Suerth, Elmer J. age 77, Marine Veteran WWII, Retired Sgt. CPD, beloved husband of Elizabeth "Betty" (nee Oswald), cherished son of the late Jacob and Ida (nee Etzhorn), dear father of Thomas, William (Rose), John (Cindie) and the late Mary Beth, loving grandfather of John Jr., Jamie, Jeff, Dan, Allison, Dennis, and Caitlin, great-grandfather of Amy, Anthony, and Luke, fond brother of the late Dorothy and Vern Anglim, uncle of Rev. Ronald H. Anglim. Member of Knights of Columbus Council #5918 and American Legion Alexander Bradley Post #80. Funeral services Wednesday, 8:45 a.m. from Mt. Auburn Funeral Home 4101 S. Oak Park Ave., Stickney, to Divine Savior Church (Downers Grove). Mass 10 a.m. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery. Visitation Tuesday, 2 to 8 p.m. 708-749-2033. Arrangements by Zefran Funeral Directors. In lieu of flowers, donations to MDA/ALS, 1020 W. 31st St., Downers Grove, IL 60515 would be appreciated.

I can remember many occasions when Elmer and my Dad would be sitting at the kitchen table drinking coffee and swapping Cop stories...oh, the stories they could tell. Now they can pick up where they left off.
