Elder Porter Obituary
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Enon Primitive Baptist Church in Houston with Elder Calvin Warren and Elder Houston Patrick officiating. Burial will follow at Enon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Houston. Houston Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Beth Jernigan Porter of Okolona; daughters, Cheryl Hays of Okolona and Jayne (Phil) Aycock of Troy; sisters, Harriet Nichols of Aberdeen, Christine (Jim Dick) Nelson of Houston, Venita Brown of Memphis, Tenn.; one brother, Jimmy (Jean) Porter of Houston; grandchildren, Romie (Amy) Hays, John (Amanda) Hays, Mary Beth (Ray) Stanford and Ashley-Beth (Nate) Baker; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers; and one sister.
Pallbearers are John Hays, Romie Hays, Randy Nichols, Robert Cliett, Russell Brown and John A. Porter.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 12, 2015, at Houston Funeral Home and from 1 to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015, at Enon Primitive Baptist Church.
Memorials may be made Enon Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Bryon Wilson, 1184 Highway 389 Houston, MS 38851.
