Eileen Mueller Obituary

Mueller, Eileen P. The world lost a grand woman on April 17th with the passing of Eileen P. Mueller, 79, of Glenview. Devoted and unique in every way, she was compelled by her own fortitude to be the best daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to those who crossed her path and stopped to take a look. And to each of us she gave her all. Many of the women in her life admired her because she was so very much a trailblazer. Discreetly, she quite properly raised two boys into men, worked meticulously in an executive role, maintained an immaculate home, participated in church and neighborhood activities as a single mother way before the world thought a woman could do such things on her own. Many know Eileen for having a somewhat dominant personality. How else could she have accomplished all she did with such perfection without the fervent passion, authority and intelligence it takes for one to attempt to succeed in the pursuit of perfection. Even today, those accomplishments alone astound. And that's just a slice of her day. Her free time was given willingly and happily to her church, family and friends with the same commitment and high standards she gave to her family. To everyone – family, friends, and colleagues – she unselfishly gave us her all. And for that, our lives are unalterably changed. She leaves a great legacy but a greater hole in our collective hearts. Eileen is the loving mother of John (Lois) and Kenneth. Proud grandmother of Kyle. Dear friend and mentor to many. Eileen was a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Beloit (WI) College class of 1948, former executive director of the Monument Builder's of North America, and an active member of the Glenview Community Church. Visitation Friday, 3PM until time of funeral service 7:30 p.m., at the N.H. Scott & Hanekamp Funeral Home, 1240 Waukegan Road Glenview (one block south of Lake Avenue on West side). Interment Private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook, 3100 West Lake Avenue, Glenview, IL 60026 or Northfield Township Food Pantry 3801 W. Lake Avenue or Northfield Township Food Pantry 3801 West Lake Avenue, Glenview, IL 60026.

Eileen was a fixture and wonderful friend to the Monument Builders of North America. As a young memorialist I remember Eileen's voice when I would call MBNA and I remember her organized effort to help with some of the largest and best national conventions in MBNA's history.

As a Trustee of MBNA I worked with Eileen on different committee projects assigned to me and as a President of MBNA I enjoyed the standards she help set forth for our organization that she loved.

Our industry is diminished by her passing.

I knew Eileen from her work at MBNA. She was a wonderful person, professional and elegant. I will always remember our friendship, as she helped show me the ropes in MBNA. When MBNA had our national convention in Washington, DC, she thought it was MBNA's crowning glory to have a convention in the City of Monuments. I think she was right. Many will miss her.

It was with sadness that we learnedof the death of our friend and neighbor, Eileen. We were neighbors of hers in Glenview for 43 years until we moved from the area 3 years ago. Eileen was a very special lady. Intelligent and kind with a very caring heart. We extend to hersons John and Kenny and their families our sincere sympathies. We especially remember with fondness her love for her grandson, Kyle, who meant so very much to her. May she rest in peace in the house of the Lord whom she praised and glorified in her lifetime.

We were sorry to learn that Eileen passed away. I have known Eileen for many years through her activity with the Monument Builders of North America. Eileen always gave encouragement to the members of the association. Many times we would refer to her as our "Den Mother". She was a most gracious lady. She will be missed.
