There are no words to explain the sadness & emptiness that everyone who knew Eileen is feeling now. You meet very few people in life that can reach you on the caring level she did. Though I only had the privilege of knowing her for only a few years, she taught me what love and happiness were truly about. She left a mark on my mind and in my heart that I will carry with me the rest of my life. She left the world a better place. She brought happiness to everyone she met and touched. She left an endless treasure of memories in everyone’s minds, and a hole in everyone’s hearts.I will miss her always and forever.Paul Kay

I've thought about the Jones family many times over the past 19 years since moving from Chicago to Las Vegas and the thoughts always brought a smile to my face. I had the great pleasure of knowing Eileen through Liz. The two of them together were like one hilarious comedy routine. I know what a close and loving family this is and I can't even imagine the pain you are going through right now. My heart and prayers go out to all of you. You've all created so many happy, wonderful memories in your lifetimes . . . take comfort in knowing that Eileen was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her and that she didn't waste a moment of her life.

To the Kosinski and Jones Families: Eileen was one of the first persons I worked with at CTA. She was professional and competent. More importantly, she was nice, kind and considerate to everyone no matter who they were. She made me laugh with her stories. And, she always had a makeup and jewelry tip for all! I know she is in heaven sharing her good humor with her dad, other family members and Rasta!

January 24, 2008

Dear Auntie,

Being so far away from home, I’m having a really hard time convincing myself that this news is true, that you are actually gone. I’m so sorry that I could not come back from China for your final farewell, but I think I already know what your answer would be – “oh honey, please. (laughs) don’t worry about it.”

I have always seen you as my “cool” aunt, which I think all four of us cousins would agree on. Growing up, you were always the aunt with tips on makeup, clothes, and everything else important to a teenage girl. It always felt like you were one of us kids. As we’ve grown up, I can remember so many times when Auntie Liz would shake her head while saying “Eileeeeeeen” in a warning tone because you were telling us a story. We would all be cracking up and seeing you scolded by Auntie Liz made us laugh even harder! But that’s how it always was, you would brighten up any family outing with your wit. There were times, even as little kids, when Michael and I were dragged to an event where we didn’t know anybody. Michael always used to say, “Well at least Auntie Eileen will be there.” Our arrangement of seating at the dinner table, I think, actually sums up your position in our family very well. While the grown ups would have serious talks about world events at the other end of the table at family dinners, you always hung out at our end. You were a bridge between the two conversations and the center of most of them. We all looked forward to hearing your stories, they were always so entertaining. From recounting adventures with Auntie Liz, stories about how much my dad used to misbehave, or even just stories about the CTA, our family dinners were always very lively because of you. There are going to be a lot of holes in all of our lives now that you are not physically with us, but your absence at our dinner table is most tangible to me right now.

As I’m sitting here in Beijing, it’s very hard for me to comprehend the type of letter I’m trying to write to you. I left for China with the knowledge that you were sick, but I never imagined that I’d have to be writing this to you right now. My friends keep telling me to write from the heart, that I can’t go wrong with whatever I feel. At this moment, though, my heart is breaking for our family. Our family will never be whole again and we will miss you so terribly. It’s going to take some time for all of our Irish eyes to smile again. We will take care of Grandma, Auntie Liz, and Uncle Rich for you as best we can. I know that we will all be strong, just like you want us to be, but we’re all going to need you to be our angel and help us get through this. I know that you have already been reunited with Grandpa, so I’m sure he’s happy to have his girl with him again. And for our share, all of us are happy that you are not in any kind of pain anymore.

I feel very blessed that you were such a huge part of life. Thank you for all of your guidance and your influence in shaping the person I’m becoming. I hope that you will be my angel and help my two grandpas watch over me for always. I love you very much Auntie and I will miss you until we meet again.

All my love,
Caitlyn

I have so many fond memories of growing up with Eileen and Liz. From sitting on the church steps, working at Neisners and teasing Eileen because she always gave money to whoever asked her for it. She was a special, giving person. I'll never forget those years. I'll always think of her when I drive down Farragut past the Jone's old house. God bless the family in this time of sorrow.
