Janet Kooistra Obituary

Janet Carlson Kooistra, 66 of Suwanee, Georgia, died Sunday, April 6, 2008. She was a loving wife, a wonderful mother and grandmother! Her family and friends rejoice that she is now in the presence of her Lord Jesus Christ, but she is greatly missed. One of six children, she was born in Duluth, on Feb. 10, 1942. She graduated from Duluth Central High School in 1960 and 23 years later in 1983 she graduated from Hinds Junior College in Clinton, MS, with a nursing degree. Since leaving Duluth she has lived with her family in Miami, Fla., Tampa, Fla., Jackson, Miss., St. Louis, Mo., and Atlanta, Ga. Mrs. Kooistra is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dr. Paul Kooistra, Suwanee; children, Paul, Jr. and Carla Kooistra, Suwanee, Shary and Jeffrey Dare, St. Louis, Mo., Jennifer and Albert Lopez, Sugar Hill; grandchildren, Margaret Dare, Alysia Lopez, Samuel Dare, Carson Kooistra, Grant Lopez, Molly Kooistra, Ava Kooistra; mother, Violet Carlson, Minn.; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Mary Lou Carlson, Minnesota, Richard and Elaine Carlson, Minnesota, Floyd and Patricia Carlson, Minnesota, Thomas and Tonya Carlson, Virginia; sister and brother In-law, Cheryl and Donald Behling, Minnesota; nieces, nephews and cousins. FUNERAL SERVICE:11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, 2008 in Chestnut Mountain Presbyterian Church, Flowery Branch. The body will lie in state at 10 a.m. Rev. George Robertson, Rev. John Batusic, Rev. William Hay and Rev. Richard Watson will officiate. Interment will follow at the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home. The Family requests in lieu of flowers a memorial gift to MTW's Street Child Ministry. Gifts sent to MTW and designated 'in memory of Jan Kooistra' will be placed in the Street Child fund (#98201) with an acknowledgement sent to the Kooistra family. Jan always had a smile and an encouraging word! Her love for her husband and children was always evident. I rejoice that she is no longer suffering and pray for Paul and the kids during this time of transition!
