Edward Motes Obituary

Motes, Edward Lee 61 of Pontiac, IL formerly of Chicago, died Monday July 10, 2006 at 11:30 p.m. at his residence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pontiac, with Msgr. Thomas Mack and Father James Rickey officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14, 2006 at Martin-Burke Funeral Home in Pontiac. Burial will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Pontiac. The family suggests memorials be left to Franciscan Hospice of Central Illinois. Edward was born on June 11, 1945 in Wetumpka, Alabama, a son of J.D. and Mary (Thrift) Motes. He married Maryann Cekus on July 27, 1968 in Chicago, IL. Surviving is his wife: Maryann Motes of Pontiac. One son: Edward John Motes of Pontiac. One daughter: Maralee (Michael) Lacki of Plainfield, IL. One grandson: Spencer Lacki. Two brothers: David Motes and H. Roy Motes, and one sister: H. Joy Kerfin all of Chicago, IL. He was also a fond uncle to several nieces and nephews of whom he cherished. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother: Willie Motes and one sister: Betty DeKoster. He was educated in Chicago Public Schools. He was employed by the William Wrigley Jr. Factory as an assistant night supervisor for 24 years.
