Edward McDermott Obituary
Edward P. McDermott, 60, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022. Eddie received a lung transplant at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in May 2021 as a result of Covid-19 pneumonia.Edward was born on September 9, 1962 in Chicago, the eighth of eleven children born to the late Thomas J. and the late Marian (Caraher) McDermott. He married Bernadette (Collery) McDermott on June 23, 2000 in Ballintogher, County Sligo, Ireland.Eddie leaves behind his adoring wife of 22 years, Bernadette, daughter Mary Kate (20), son Aidan (18) and daughter Lily (12). Loving brother of Thomas, J., Jr (Julia), the late Carol, Ann McDermott (the late Robert Newman), Maureen (Richard) Lillis, John (Laurie), Janet (John) Revane, Marybeth (Kevin) McCarthy, Michael (Maura), Patricia (Michael) Connelly, and James (Paula) McDermott. Edward is also survived by many nieces and nephews as well as friends in Chicago, Ireland and across the world. The family would like to thank the entire staff at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, especially the nurses and doctors who cared for Eddie so deeply. We also thank the lung donor and their family for the gift of life that gave us more time with Edward. Visitation Friday, September 30, 2022, family will receive friends from 3:00 - 9:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park. Funeral Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. Rita of Cascia Shrine Chapel, 7740 South Western Avenue, Chicago. Mass 1:00 p.m. The Mass can be viewed via live stream using the link on the Sheehy Funeral Home website. Family and friends are to gather directly at church.

Dearest Bernie and family,
Our family are deeply saddened to hear the news of Eddie´s passing. We remember Eddie fondly from our days at BCC. He was always cheerful and could never do enough to help, no matter the need! Bernie and young folks please know that Eddie´s is always part of you by just remembering a special time you shared together. He was welcomed lovingly into the arms of family and friends who have gone ahead and he was brought into the Paradise God has made for his faithful, free now from all pain and suffering to live in everlasting life! Someday you will hug him again! Our love and prayers are with you all as you find peace in knowing he is always with you through your many memories! His Bkess you all!
