Great Uncle Edward was a kind and generous man. Growing up I remember seeing him mostly in his Sgt. Uniform visiting my grandparents bakery (Pajda Bakery-Chiacgo) and friends aksing me and whispering about who this great man was. It was fascinating just to be in his company. He always had something funny to say, and mostly I remember him extending to others a part of who he was....I believe he lived a great life and set an example to many. He was a very proud, upstanding and fine man that loved life. I am glad to have had the opportunity growing up knowing Great-Uncle Edward and Great-Auntie Helen. He had the grandest of smiles with a wonderous laugh, he truly was a great dancer and I will remember him doing just that. May he dance once again in paradise as he celebrates and reunites in eternal life.

My condolences to Joe, Carol, Diane and Greg on the loss of your father. I always felt that both your father and mother gave a great sense of community to 46th St. with their neighborhood store.

Carol, Joe, Diane, and Greg,
I was saddened to see the obituary for your dad in yesterday's Tribune. I recall visiting your home in the 70's and early 80's at Western and 43rd?. I saw how sad he looked at your Aunt Ann's wake, missing your mom so very much. Your dad was always very warm and welcoming to me. My sincere sympathy to you and your families at this time.
Sincerely,
Harry Hoferle

When I think about my Grandfather, I remember a man who loved life. It didn't matter if he was going rollerskating, on a bike ride, or even to a dance at the Willowbrook...he loved life. You could always count on him for a laugh as well. So many times he would say the funniest things that I would walk away from a conversation and still laugh from what he had said. I hope that as I get older that I can approach life with the same zest and zeal as my Grandfather did. May you rest in peace, and enjoy the heavenly ballroom for the dance floor never closes.
