Chapas, Edward L."Eddie" Age 80, a lifelong resident of Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood, died Saturday, December 15, 2007 at Northwestern University Medical Center, Chicago. He was born April 30, 1927 in Chicago. Eddie is survived by a daughter, Carolyn (the late John W. Ross, Jr.) Chapas of Lisle, IL, two brothers, Richard (Kathleen) Chapas of Naperville, IL and Stanley (Lorraine) Chapas of Rancho Bernardo, CA, nieces and nephews, Richard A. (Dottie) Chapas, Mark (Angela) Chapas, Jennifer Chapas, Brian Chapas, Lisa (John) Hoffman, Deborah (John) Gavalick, David (Emma) Rozich, Michael Rozich and James Hatton, Jr., many great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty L. (nee Staswick) Chapas and his parents, Stanley and Mary Chapas. Eddie was a 1945 graduate of Tilden Technical High School, served in the Marine Corps. during World War II and later attended the Northwestern School of Business, Chicago. After a forty-year career in banking, Eddie retired as Vice President of Commercial Lending for LaSalle Bank, Chicago. Eddie was a member of American Legion Post #271, Museum of Natural History and the Balzekas Lithuanian Museum, all in Chicago and the Morton Arboretum, Lisle. Visitation Tuesday, December 18, 3:00-9:00 p.m. at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville. Closing Prayers will begin Wednesday, December 19, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home, and will proceed to a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 1500 Brookdale Rd., Naperville. A luncheon reception will directly follow the mass. Family and friends will meet Wednesday, 2:30 p.m. for graveside services at St. Casimir Cemetery, Chicago, IL. For info. (630)355-0213.
