Edna Skinner Obituary

Skinner, Edna Virginia "Gram" Born May 28, 1928, passed away in her sleep on February 9, 2013. Born into a family of ten children, and raised in Douglas, Arizona. She is survived by her daughter, Frances Skinner Lewis and her sons, George and Steven Skinner; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and dancing partner. Edna was tirelessly devoted to her family and friends. She was a miraculous person, whose smile could light up a room. Her quick wit could send everyone around her into a laughing frenzy. A diehard Chicago Bulls fan, Edna watched many games courtside, cheering on her favorite player, Michael Jordan. She played numerous musical instruments and her love of music was infectious and inspiring. She sang and danced on stage with several big bands during World War II as a member of the USO. She will be missed, but her memory and her music will forever be in our hearts. Her visitation will be held on Thursday, February 14 from 4 to 9 PM at the Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60625. The funeral mass for Edna will be Friday, February 15th, 10:30am at St. Benedict's Church, Irving Park Road and Leavitt, Chicago, IL. 60618. I wish I could say so much more than I did at her funeral. I miss her so much just found a card she sent me all in Spanish as she was my tutor during high school and I actually could read it. I was at the mass and had a million things to say but just broke down. I never had a cheerleader a coach an inspiration like my gram and not a day goes by I don’t think about her. I know this is very late to post but while moving I have have found so so many treasures we shared. I love you Gram well my Grammie. Love u always, watch over my mom, dance with her sing with her she always told me all the best things about you and someday when John Travolta arrives in heaven... watch out!! You will win any dance challenge with him. And I bet he still will have his moves. Just know how much my mom and me and Tracy and Michael loved and still love you. Kisses to aunt Minnie, uncle bob and of course papa. Just really miss you,
Love, Carrie
I wish that I would have expressed more at your funeral during our cousin eulogy but would have taken 12 hours.
