Edna Compton Obituary

Mrs. Edna Carico Compton, 92, of The Gardens and formerly of 253 Old Mountain Rd. died Sunday evening at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Carroll County, Va. on March 12, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Carico and Minnie Hanks Carico. She was retired from Brenton Textiles and was a member of Eufola Baptist Church. She also enjoyed fishing and gardening.
On October 23. 1045, she married MMr. Thomas S. Compton who died on March 24, 1983. she was also preceded in death by two brothers, Emory and Glenn Carico and three sisters, Mae Carico, Florence Bryant and Ola Gwaltney.
Left to cherish her memory are a brother, Woodrow Carico and his wife Lucy and a sister-in-law, Jean Carrico all of Statesville, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services celebrating Edna's life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Wednesday at Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with Rev. Otis Johnson, Jr. and Rev. Sherman Barlow officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Hospice & Palliative Care Of Iredell County 2347 Simonton Rd. Statesville, N.C. 28625 or to Eufola Baptist Church P.O. Box 5026 Statesville, N.C. 28687.
