Edith Woodson Obituary

RINGGOLD, Va. - Edith Ferguson Woodson, 86, formerly of 2353 Kentuck Road, died Thursday, June 19, 2003 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. She had been in declining health for ten years and in Roman Eagle for three years.

Born Aug. 29, 1916, in Keeling, Va., she was the daughter of George Thomas Ferguson and Mary Agnes Davis Ferguson, who predeceased her.

She was a member of Old Mill Primitive Baptist Church. She lived most of her life in the Kentuck community.

She was retired from Dan River Mills Inc.

She married Percy William Woodson on Dec. 26, 1931. He predeceased her.

She is survived by two daughters, Jean W. Phelps of Danville and Judith W. Mayhew of Huntersville, N.C.; two sisters, Wilsie F. Hill and Mary F. Aherron, both of Ringgold; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a son, Lawrence William Woodson and five brothers, Howard Ferguson, Acie Ferguson, Layton Ferguson, Ellis Ferguson and Irvin Ferguson.

The funeral will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Wrenn-Yeatts, North Main Chapel with Elder Norvel Mann and the Rev. Thomas Shepherd officiating. Interment will be in Highland Burial Park.

The family will receive friends 7-8:30 p.m. Friday at Wrenn-Yeatts North Main Chapel. At other times they will be at the residence of her daughter, Jean W. Phelps, 143 Millerton Road, Danville.
