Rest in Peace Sir! You got me started in meteorology, let me update the 976-1212 weather forecast, taught me the basics of DIFAX and treated me like a family member. I'll see you again one day my friend!!!

To the entire Finckle family,
I’m so sorry to hear of Mr. Finckle’s passing. My thoughts have been with you ever since I found out. Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I know what a difficult time this will be. Having dated their youngest son, Keith, for over a decade I had the opportunity to get to know Mr. Finckle on a personal level. Three words come to mind, straightforward, honest and kind. Through the many ups and downs that Keith and I experienced over the years he never had an unkind word for me. He told me like it was and always with just the right amount of wit. I respected what he had to say to me. One very fond memory of him is when he was at my Mother’s funeral. He took my hand with a very firm grip and held onto it for what felt like a really long time. It was so comforting to me in that moment. I’ve never forgotten that and I never will.
Rest in peace Mr. Finckle.
With love,
Elmer Pate

I will always appreciate the fact that Earl gave me my first "real" job as a Meteorologist at Central Weather Service. He had a passion for his work and the ability to present a forecast in an interesting and humorous way. I learned a lot from him, not just about weather forecasting. On behalf of my former colleagues, we offer our condolences to the Finckle family.

To the Finckle Family:
Earl was a classmate of mine, many, many years ago at Lowell School, on Hirsch St. and Homan/Spaulding Avenue. Please accept my sincerest sympathy to all of you at this time of loss.
Upon seeing the obituary, I immediately went to our class group picture and then also the "Lowell News", which had our individual pictures. It did bring back memories.

My sincerest condolences to the entire Finckle family. Earl Finckle was my mentor at age 15 and was like a father figure to me as I tried to make my way. Because of Earl I was able to follow my dream of being a weatherman which led to my ultimate goal of getting married and starting a family. I will always remember Earl fondly and as a great man in my life. Truly I was blessed.

Mr. Earl was a fixture on WIND back in the days when it was "the" talk radio station in Chicago. I had the honor of meeting him at one of the WIND kite-fly events. What a nice gentleman and a true professional. May he rest in peace.

Earl Finckle was my friend and I am so incredibly sad at the news of his passing. I've never met anyone quite like him. His innate love of the weather and the breadth of his knowledge on the subject was something to behold. I had the chance to talk with him when he visited our WGN weather office years ago while taping segments for Max Armstrong and Orion Samuelson's Noon Show and nationally syndicated agriculture show. To the Finckle family, my love and prayers are with you at this sad time. Thanks for sharing such a remarkable human being with all of us! His famous "Finckle sprinkles" will always be with us as will the warm memories of hit remarkable wit and incredible body of hard work in the meteorological profession he loved so dearly. I miss him already and can only begin to imagine the loss you feel.

As a friend of the family during my high school years I can recall how passionate Earl (Mr. Finkle) was about his career in meteorology. From the teletype in the kitchen closet to his rehearsal of on air reports, Earl loved his profession almost as much as his family. A larger than life personality. I have not seen most of you since my years in High school that I spent as friends with Larry but I am thinking of you today. Larry call me when you get a chance. Don Hoffman.
