Dr. David Bruce Obituary

My sympathies on your loss. I had
the privilege of knowing David
through the teaching section of the
American Physiological Society, and
came in second to him (lost)when he
was elected Chair of the Teaching
Section. As we spoke, I told him
my reaction to the election news
was disappointment followed by
great elation. He confessed to
exactly the opposite sequence -
elation followed by great
apprehension.


Please know that our thoughts and
prayers are with you at this time.
His efforts have made the world a
better place.

David's legacy will live on in the
students he taught and in the
contributions he made to the
Teaching Section of the American
Physiological Society. We are
grateful for his presence among us!

My deepest sympathy. David was an
outstanding example for all of us:
committed to the Lord, his family,
his students, and his discipline.
He will be greatly missed by those
of us who looked forward to seeing
him each at the Christian Fellowship
meetings. It is wonderful to know
that our friendship will be renewed
one day in the presence of our Lord.

David will be missed by all of us in
the physiological community. He was
a gifted teacher, educator, and
scientist, who contributed
significantly to our discipline.
We all benefited from his
contributions to our science. My
sincere condolences and those of the
APS are extended to David's family.

Although I saw David only once a
year at the Experimental Biology
meeting, I knew him to be a
thoughtful and generous colleague
who cared deeply about teaching and
his students. We will miss him.

I'll miss our annual interaction
and fellowship as colleagues and
believers. My deepest sympathy.

We will miss a great teacher,
mentor and friend to students.
