McDonald, Dorothy Joan

Dorothy Joan McDonald, 87, of Buffalo Grove, died peacefully in her home on October 31, 2024, with her sister by her side.

Dorothy was born in Chicago on August 12, 1937, to parents James and Anne (nee Sedder) McDonald, the second of their four children.

She graduated from Mercy High School in Chicago in 1955, and then worked as a key punch operator for the Chicago School Board of Education. She ran the whole department for many years before retiring, and then worked for Kemper Insurance where she retired in 2000.

She loved to travel and enjoyed her retirement with her sister Patricia.

She is survived by her sister, Patricia McDonald, her nieces and nephew, Kathy (Jim) Van Cleve, Robert Darlene) Meginnis, Sue (Todd) DePinto, and Patty (Steve) Koss, and Maureen (Charlie) Griffin, and her great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Mary Carol (Bob) Meginnis, and her brother, James McDonald.

Mass will be Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at 11 a.m. with a visitation the hour prior, all at St. Mary Catholic Church, 10 N Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove, IL 60089.
