Mrs. Katz was my French horn teacher in Winneker in the 70´s. I was a goofy 11 year old and she taught me so much about music and focus and tenacity. She taught a lot more than horn technique. I have carried so many of Dory´s lessons through my life and I think of her still 50 years later. Her memory is truly a blessing. Love to her family.

I came across this obituary by accident. Dorothy Katz gave my daughter, Meredith, French horn lessons from 1993-1996. She was a wonderful teacher and a wonderful human being. My sympathies to you all. Knowing her was a blessing.

Out of all of my patients at Miracle Ear, she was by far my favourite. She was such a joy to be around. Wish I could have heard her play. She was a special one.

As Dorothy's dentist for many years, we spent time not only professionally, but getting to know each other personally. My daughter was required to play a musical instrument in grade school. Her heart was in it and she spent many hours practicing, but without much success. When I told Dorothy that her music teacher instructed not to play in school concerts, Dorothy became quite upset. To have an enthusiastic student and a teacher not providing encouragement was unacceptable to Dorothy.
