I remember Dorothy as I have a photo of her and the other crew members of my boat attached to the Hansen Rescue Award I have in my den. Dorothy and her friend Dee Van Leeuwen and 4 other crew were on my boat in June 2000 when we rescued a drowning sailor 2 miles off of Belmont harbor. Dorothy learned the ropes and purchased her own big sailboat she harbored at Winthrop Harbor.

So sorry to hear of her passing. I only knew her from my visits at WHYC. She always stopped by to see what "Gail and Oprah" were doing, as that is who she said my cousin and I reminded her of. We always laughed with her over that.

Dorothy was a fellow sailor who so relished the joy of sailing and the beauty the Creator provided us. I met Dorothy at the Northwest Sailing Assoc. in 1999 and was a hero on my boat in 2000 in the rescue of another sailor for which we were presented the Hanson Award from US Sailing. My sympathy goes out to the Cutrone family...as we will remember Dorothy.
