So sorry to have just learned of Don's passing. We have lots of good traveling and card playing memories of both Don and Betty. No one should struggle because of health and it is good to know that he is now at peace.

I've had the privilege of getting to know Don (Grandpa) over the last 14 years and within this time I saw a man of wisdom and compassion like no other. I'll never forget the walks we used to take at midnight because we were both night owls. We had a lot of fascinating conversations, including one that led me to start speaking with my own father after 10 years of not speaking. He opened my eyes to a lot. Don had incredible will power and will be deeply missed.

I would like to offer my condolences to the Topp family on Dons passing. Played racketball on many a Sunday evening with Don, a very good player, and afterward we would have a beer and usually talk about sports. A great guy, he will be missed.

I feel so lucky to have had such an amazing Grandpa and so many great memories to look back on. I had a lot of fun watching you play volleyball and softball, and you taking me bowling and swimming at grandma's pool. But the times i will cherish most are when i would go to your house and you would pay me a penny for every stick i picked up in the back yard and then you would take me to the dollar store to spend the couple dollars i made and then you would take me out for ice cream. You and grandma loved to take trips and it helps to know that you two are together in the most beautiful paradise there is. I love and miss you both and you will always be in my heart! Love you, Meli

We miss dad but we watched him struggle everyday for the past few years so we are glad he is now resting in peace. What a great dad you were. I have so many childhood cherished memories. Summers you spent with us as kids, swimming at the Riviera Club, going to the beach and Aunt Katies in South Haven. My first plane ride to Disney in CA. Camp Nawakwa, which was a great vacation as a kid but not so much as an adult with my own kids (lol). Watching your softball games, going to Sox games and Notre Dame games. Birthday dinners, just us at a fancy restaurant. Bret and I remember trips from Ohio to Chicago when we would meet at JCs for pizza as soon as we got off the highway. Even though you preferred Foxes you knew we liked JCs better so you would sacrifice but wed go to Foxes the next night. You and mom coming to Ohio and breakfasts at Perkins and family day trips to Americana and Kings Island. Later our trips to Branson and to Ohio. You were a very selfless and generous Father and Grandfather. You will be dearly missed!

Rest in peace Grandpa!!
You will be missed so so much and you were so loved!! It's really hard to only name a few memories because I feel like you were there throughout my entire life and you were there during my kids lives. You were one of the reasons why I wanted to be a teacher growing up, I used to love going to the school where you worked (filling the pop machines and watching the basketball games). Whenever I needed to know something I would go to you, growing up I always thought you knew everything. I have so many early memories of pool days at the condo and so many times going to breakfast and going to dinner. At one point it was a weekly ritual (The Diner, Fox's, country house, pappas). I will miss you so much Grandpa Topp!!

I have many memories of Don over the years even back to when he was dating Betty while she lived with us. One thing that stood out to me about Don was his role model of being a father and doing things with the family and taking his children to special things. Later in the 90's when I was living with Betty I remember many nights going to hear music at Fox's with the two of them. I had to take my own car because they stayed out too late for me. One thing I appreciated about Don is he was my only uncle I could talk with about politics without an argument. Many, many fond memories of Don. Much affection and sympathy to my cousins and their family. Love, Phyllis

Ron & I will miss you Dad but we have wonderful memories that we will cherish forever. We remember all the breakfasts and dinners out especially your favorite, Fox's, and the great vacations together. Ron especially remembers the softball games and the basement poker games at the old house. For me, it's the Sox games when I was little especially if the Tigers were playing the Sox and the Notre Dame games and many, many more. You were a GREAT Dad!
