I knew him as "Tiny" in the 1950's and he was indeed a "man among men." Deep in my heart I know he and his hosts of friends and family will meet again----that truth is an inspiration to us all. God Bless "Tiny," his family, and all of us who knew him.

My deepest sympathy to the members of the McCue family over the loss of "Tiny". He was one of the unsung heros who made the 10th SRS the success it was recognized to be. He will long be remembered by those he served with.

To the McCue family, just want to say that Don has truly touched many hearts in his life. Don put up with me through my preparation of my wedding, and local 143 apprenticeship, he was a counselor, friend, and one of my best bosses i ever had. He was the reason i gained about 20 pounds at Hyde Park ( and for some reason i still can't lose the weight). Don spoiled us every day for lunch, we ate everday except for friday, cause that was his fish day. We ate at morries and some deli in bridgeport. I just want to say that don will be trully missed by all.

Dear McCue Family,

I am truely sorry about the great loss of your father to your family. Although, I have only known Don for a couple of years through Cathy, I have to let all of you know what a great man your dad was. Every time I spent any time with your dad and mom, I loved listening to all his stories and I loved his sense of humor, your mom and dad made a great pair and you always saw the love between the two of them, they always made me laugh. He, like Cathy had a quick wit and you would always learn something from him from the time one spent with him. Your Dad, my friends will truely be missed by hundreds of people. Take comfort in that fact that he was loved by many and that many thought the world of him. No matter how short or long of a time anyone knew Don McCue they always walked away knowing he was a special man and were better off for knowing him.

My thoughts are with your family at this time and always.

TINY. THE DAYS OF THE BIG TEN ARE GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN. YOU ARE FOREVER PART OF AN ETERNAL TASK FORCE OF RB-47E MECHANICS AND YOUR BOND WITH US, ME, THEM WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. I LOVE YOU BIG GUY AND I LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU AGAIN IN OUR LORDS MANSION. MY HEART BLEEDS FOR YOUR FAMILY. YOU ARE NOT GONE, ONLY MOVED ON TO A HIGHER KINGDOM (OF GOD). GOD BLESS YOU FOR ALL YOU DID AND ALL YOU MEANT TO THE 10TH STRATEGIC RECONNAISANCE SQUADRON.

Paul DeStefano

August 9, 2005

On behalf of my wife Florence and the DeStefano family, I want to express our deepest condolences to Dolores and the entire McCue family. His friendship with my father Carl was always treasured and honored by our family. He was very instrumental in the growth and success of Local 143 as an Executive Board member and Past President. His efforts help pave the way for a new generation of School Engineers in their service to the citizens of the City of Chicago. I'll never forget that after he won an election against my dad for President of the Union, he reached out and asked for my dad's help as an officer. That gesture was indicative of his nature and solidified a strong friendship that lasted for the remainder of their lives. He will be missed both professionally and personally by all of us who knew him. May the Lord bless the entire family during this time of loss with abundant peace and strength. Our prayers are with you.

Bobbie Bauer-Fichter

August 9, 2005

Don left a lasting impact on the Chicago Public Schools, how engineers do their jobs and the pride they can take in doing a good job for the children and the City. Don cared for the union members and did his best to keep relations open and good with the Board of Education, despite many changes in administration and ways of running the schools. It was a great loss to the system when Don lost the election and, later, retired.

I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to work with him. His friends will miss him.
