Despite the feelings of some of the Ascension teachers that Donnie was one of the more rambunctious in the Class of '71, he was definitely one of the good guys. The sad news of Donnie's passing brought back a flood of Elmwood Avenuue memories. He was my best friend until we drifted, going to separate high schools. I can't count the number of walks to Rehm pool we took, the number of times we walked the alleys looking for pop bottles to return to Pete's for penny candy, the number of games of 50-chase and hide-and-seek we played, and the number of times he threatened to sic Gunga on us. This was all good stuff. You will be missed, Donnie. I offer my condolences to family and friends.

It was sad to hear of the death of Donnie Maxwell. I only knew him for a short time in the “Stormy Mondays” days. We did have some good times. Two memories stand out. Once when he poured a beer in my cowboy hat as a joke, oops, wrong hat= a bloody nose. The second was our sky diving adventure with me, Donnie and Mary Beth, his sister. I still have the photo. FYI, never play pool with her! I am sure he will be missed by family and friends.
