Donald Hankins Obituary

Hankins, Donald Musician, well known blues and jazz saxaphonist, died on October 23, 2006, in his Milwaukee home. With him went a great sense of humor that would often melt away a down hearted spirit to one of an uplifting spirit. Donald is also survived by his sister, Ardell Hankins Green, who he has always referred to as "Sister" from childhood. Other brothers and sisters are Marie Hankins Griffin, Birdell Hankins, Frank Martinez, Ray Martinez, Mary Martinez and Francis Martinez Jarvis. He is preceded in death by his parents, the late Richard and Flossie Hankins; sisters, Sodonia Martinez Luckie, Virginia Martinez Morris. He will be cherished by his two friends, Sandra Johnson and Pete Fuller and Donnell Holmes, who he raised from infancy. Memorial services will be held Tuesday, 7:30 p.m., November 7, 2006, at Calahan Funeral Home, 7030 S. Halsted, Chicago, 773-723-4400.
