Donald Bonnewell Obituary

My memories of Don are from NCState and the bookstore.Don was always patient and understanding and could make things happen quickly.He interceded for me so many times .
I never felt like my last minute requests were a burden.He was a constant of kindness and good humor.He has been missed since 2007.
Don made NCState look stellar because he was a stellar human being filled with sweetness.
Please know my thoughts are with you at this time of sadness.

It has been many years since our Cary High days, but you have remained one of the ones I remember with much fondness.

Words often fail us when sorrow walks into the lives of those who are special to us. Please know you are in our thoughts, our prayers and our hearts.

Karen and all of Don's family, I am at a loss for words at the loss of Don. I worked for years in the college bookstore world and my visits with Don were filled with such laughter. I learned much from him, not only about he bookstore world, but about life. He was always filled with sunshine and laughter. I honestly cannot ever remember him without a smile. The world is a poorer place without him, but Heaven a much richer place with him. I will miss him dearly.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I appreciate all you and Don did for me when I first moved in nearby and more recently when you notified me of the zoning issue. Please let me know if there is anything I can do. I will miss him.

To Don's Family -- I want to let you know how sad I am to learn of Don's passing. I have so many treasured childhood memories of Don that I will never forget! He was like a brother to me, always kind and caring. Even though it's been many years since we have been together, there will always be a bright shining candle in my heart for him. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. Growing up Ross and I were friends and I remember Mr. Bonnewell as a kind man who was exceedingly smart and funny.

Dear Karen and Ross, I just heard the sad news. I know it's been quite some time since we've seen each other, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I'm thinking about you. I'll never forget the good times I had with your family growing up.

Karen, I can not begin to tell you how special Don was to me. I was in CSANC with him so many years and he was always there when we needed to know how to do something. He always had a kind word and smile for you when you were down. He could lift your spirits in the worst of times. He was like family to all of us in the association. He taught me so much and I will miss him terribly. If you were new or alone he always made you feel like part of the group and made sure you met people and were able to talk to someone. He was an amazing man and I have been blessed to know him. I don't think he ever met a stranger. My thgouths and prayers are with you and the entire family during this trying time. Know I am here if you need anything along with all the family at CSANC.

Dear Karen, I was so sorry to hear about Don's death. I know you and the family are heart-broken but please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Our Safe Place family has such fun memories of you and Don and we are just so sorry that we all are not with you right now. I'll never forget that wonderful Advisory Board dinner uears ago at your beautiful home! We love you and will hold you up over the coming days, weeks and months as you grieve.

To the the family of our friend, our leader, and our technology advocate. Don was our "go to" man in the college bookstore industry. He was someone who if he didn't have the answer, he knew who did. Then he knew how to laugh and keep us laughing. As was said in his obituary, he loved a good fun party and we loved to share with him. We in the college bookstore community, share your loss in a very real way. May you find comfort in Don's full life, love, and friendship. My deepest sympathy goes to you for the loss of your husband and father. Don and I went to school together from the 1st to the 12th grade. I have many memories of Don as a person that cared for others and always appreciated a good time. I pray that God will give you the strength you need to go through the changes you will face during this time of your life.

Karen, I am so assured that Don's rejoicing in God's grace in the realm we've not yet seen. Try to keep that in mind as you miss him in the days ahead and know that so many of us embrace you as you do so. With love which has just grown stronger over the years. . .

I am so very sorry for your loss. Don was such a nice man. He was always willing to share his knowledge of textbooks and the college bookstore industry with anyone who needed some guidance. Don was always fun and had a laugh and a smile(and a wry wisecrack)ready for his many, many friends. We will miss him and remember him with love and appreciation.
