I can't begin to thank everyone on behalf of Donnie..He was the most amazing,loving,nice man I have ever met.I was so lucky to share his life & his family & friends!!"what you leave is not what is engraved in stone monuments,But what is woven into the lives of other"Donnie you will be in my heart forever!!!

To the Atherton Family,I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Donny only at work but I know he was agood man who loved his family and friends more than anything in the world. He will be missed by anyone who was lucky enough to know him. He was a good friend and a great man you should be very proud to have had him in your life as I was. Jackie and family,
Donnie was a kind and generous man. He always made everyone feel welcomed into his home. We will miss him dearly.

Don and I were friends for a short time I worked at the Sun Times, but he acted as mentor to me, and gave time and knowledge without hesitation. I will always remember him as a kind and gracious man, and a good friend.

Don and I where helpers together on the same truck when we worked for the tribune . He became a sun times driver and I became a tribune driver .My condolences to all who loved him , I know he will be missed.

Donnie was the most patient man I had ever met. I never known anyone to express their love as much as him.This man loved everyone of us and was never afraid to show it. I never had the chance to thank him for everything he's ever done for me and my children, but i have the chance to thank my step brothers and sister for allowing us to share the love your dad had, and tell you what a wonderful man your father was and how lucky you were to have a life of memories with him... We will miss him terribly

Dad was always a man that loved to make people happy. He tried so hard to make everybody happy before he was ever happy. He always put himself second to the ones that were most important to him. I'm going to miss my dad an unbelievable amount, and I will never forget the moments my dad and I have shared-- you're in my thoughts forever Dad!

As Christians we all know that our transition from life on earth to eternal life is our reward for a job well done. Your Husband and our Brother certainly "did his job" while he was here. It is a tribute to Butch that he made such wonderful memories for everyone he touched. His enthuisiasm for life was infectious. His love for you was unequaled. His charm and genuine feelings for all was a wonderful thing to witness.
The love and loyalty to all of his children, their spouses, and Grandchildren are the truest I've ever seen. I know that he will be a part of them forever.
We realize that when you lose the love of your life there are no words to help lesson your sorrow. In that spirit, we all want you to know that you will always be just as much a part of us as Butch was.
