To dear Dominics family, I will forever remember your dear father from his days as the Regional Manager of Alitalia in Chicago. He was encouraging, generous, compassionate . . . simply a wonderful human being. He invited me as a 19 year old on Alitalias inaugural 747 flight from Chicago to Rome, since the travel agency that I worked for sent many customers to Alitalia. He has winged his flight to the celestial realms and undoubtedly is watching over all of his family and friends with a heart filled with love. God bless you, dear Dominic.

To The Family Of
Dominic DiFrisco
In remembrance of Dominic DiFrisco, I am reminded that from the inception of the "Principal for A Day Program (1998)," a program that encouraged corporate and civic involvement in Chicago Public Schools, Dominic participated every year until Robert S. Abbott Elementary School closed in June, 2009. Additionally, he participated in "Career Day" and provided Thanksgiving Baskets for the students, annually, courtesy of his friends from "Little Italy."
He demonstrated unyielding support for the children and staff of the Abbott School throughout the years. .He was there whenever he could be of service; whether that was attending an Local School Council meeting, awards assembly, dedication ceremony of two new libraries, or a "just because he was in the neighborhood day" when he would provide pizza for the entire school, Dominic was there.. He even befriended and mentored students into adulthood.
When schools in Chicago were being closed and shut down for no legitimate reason......Dominic appeared at a Board Meeting and was instrumental in helping to keep the Robert S. Abbott Elementary School open. He was always so proud to be a part of the Abbott Family!
These are just a few of the sincere and beautiful deeds he committed himself to for the students and staff of the Abbott School.
Dominic and I continued our enduring friendship to the very end. He will be truly missed, but memories will live on
"in perpetuity."
With Deepest Sympathy,
Carol A. Hardin,
Retired Principal-Robert S. Abbott School

This huge loss to the Italian American community, Chicago and his family is a shock to me as I didn't know he was sick. Dominic was someone who you always thought would be there forever...advocating for us. I first met him when I was working in Springfield and we were running around the Illinois House and Senate. We immediately clicked and I was in great awe and admiration of him. I am active in Rockford's Italian American community, in many ways including initiating a Sister City with Ferentino, Italy and serving on the Greater Rockford Italian American Association (GRIAA). I would call him, at home occasionally to bounce something off him or complain about something. He always had time for me although his stature was surely above mine any day. I think he got a kick out of my active work on behalf of our shared ethnic heritage and my spunk. For whatever reason, I was blessed to call him my acquaintance. I hope that he continues to get honored for his tireless work on behalf of our community and I hope that there is a permanent memorial to him. I also hope that he was cognizant enough to know about Mayor LaToya Cantrell of New Orleans' apology for the largest mass lynching of Americans - that of Sicilian immigrants in 1890. Undoubtedly, he would have been pleased as I was, a fellow Sicilian/Roman. I can't believe that he is gone. Dominic was bigger than life and surely will be missed by so many. Its fitting that his death is receiving the media coverage he deserved. My deepest condolences to his family. I didn't even know that he had connections to the Mariano's. What a nice synergy of good works. Finally, my deepest thanks to Dominic for fighting the good fight for us on so many fronts, Balbo Drive, Columbus, etc. etc. etc...He stood very tall in a city of many leaders and was a distinguished advocate for us...Bravo, Grazie e Tanti Amore.

Dear Carolina and familia,
My sincere and heartfelt condolences to your beloved Dominic, a great man of culture, integrity and exemplary character. May his unique charisma and love always radiate in our hearts as we remember his warm smile, touching words, and positive inspiration for mankind. I, like many, will always remember him as a great ambassador for the Italian American community, impeccable character, stature and respect. I was privileged to know him, and always enjoyed those elegant formal affairs with you and Dom. May his memory be eternal. With love and sympathy, John L. (Gianni)

When we think of and remember Dom, it is with the words of Emerson : To laugh often and much: To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you lived. This is to have succeeded. Thank you Dom for all you have done for so many. Sheila, Charles and Catherine

Dearest Carol, Nina and Pasquale,
This is the time in our life that words are unable to adequately express the loss of this wonderful and courageous man. We will never forget his kindness to our family. Your Husband, Father and Grandfather is truly "one of a kind" His life of service and friendship to all, plus the blazing trail he leaves for us to emulate is inspiring. We pray for you, his family and may the good Lord hold Dominic in his arms so he may 'Rest in Peace'

We first met Dominic when our son won an award from the Joint Civic Committee of Italian Americans. What a wonderful day that was! We met again when dining out and Dominic was at a nearby table. Our son went over to say hello and was most welcomed. We, his parents, were waved to come over and we had a pleasant conversation. The same thing happened a couple years later at the same restaurant. Dominic and his wife could not have been more pleasant. Those are happy memories we will cherish. We extend our deepest and most sincere sympathy to all who loved him.

Through a mutual friend who knew Dominic very well, I had the pleasure of sharing a dining experience with him. Within the first few minutes of meeting him it was easy to see what a wonderful and selfless man he was. To paraphrase an expression that Dom often used, my life was made richer from knowing him. I feel blessed to have known him.

To Nina and her son, God Bless You - I am an old friend of your father, going back 40 years. I remember when we dated and you would call him - he stopped everything for you. You were the pride of his life along with your son. The last thing he told me in November was he did not want to be of poor health. Well, now he can rest in peace with all his Sicilian family. Rest in peace Dominic, your friend of 40 years (Sicilian too), Rosemarie.

We are all mourning the loss of our dear friend Dominic today. He was such a kind and generous man, with a great sense of humor and compassion and so much love for his family and friends. Dom always, always asked what he could do to help me...and then he just did it...including getting my son a job one summer. I am so grateful for his friendship and will treasure the memories of our Gene & Georgetti's lunches forever. Buon viaggio, amico mio. My deepest condolences to Carol, Nina and Pasquale.
