Dear Heidkamp Family,
I just heard through my Uncle Tony (Tony's Barber Shop on Clark Street) that Diane had passed. Diane and I had worked together at St. Francis Center for Women's Health and after we left kept up our friendship until a couple years ago.
I was just thinking of her the other day and wondering how life was treating her. I am so sad to learn of her passing and sad too that sometimes friendships become dormant because of distance etc. I would have wanted to help in any way I could.
I know that her family meant everything to her and I often confided in her about the challenges of motherhood.
My deepest sympathies to her son and daughters and her grandchildren. I will always remember her as a beautiful soul.

my heart goes out to all of you on the loss of your mom / grandmother. for me she was not only my best friend in the world, but also the sister i never had,a quarter of a centry was not long enough to have been blessed with her friendship.in so many ways we were so alike and yet our differences helped balance us out.i will always treasure the memories we shared,i'll deeply miss her smile and laughter,no one else to share the lenghty conversations with.
her pain is gone, our's is just beginning.

Diane was a student in two of my Adult Education courses. Even as she became ill she was determined to hang in and complete her Masters degree. I'll remember her strong spirit and gentle nature. I had no idea she had so many children and grandchildren! All of you are in my thoughts.

Dear Family of Diane, I was so fortunate to spend a week, last summer, with Diane & Betty...like old times. We each knew in our hearts that this might be the last celebration but nobody admitted it. Diane took me aside & told me she was trying to prepare for the worst but was hoping for a cure or at least more time. She so loved it downtown, with me. In an e-mail she told me it was her life's dream, fulfilled. I am grateful that I was able to help her fulfill that dream. I wish she could have stayed longer. May her soul be in a place more beautiful than any dream she could have had. My sympathy to all of you. Maddy Fields-Gollogly

Diane, you and I sure do go back a long way. Thru grammar school, high school, each other’s weddings and especially all the happy times we spent together when our kids were young. You were my baby’s godmother. We spent countless fun-filled hours at swimming pools, parks, zoos, sleepovers at your place in Rogers Park and just sitting around talking and laughing until my sides ached. You took me to see “Beatlemania” for my 30th birthday. The highlight of my last trip to Chicago was having the chance to get together with you and our grandchildren, the way we did so many years ago with our own children. Dear friend, ‘till we meet again…..save a seat in heaven for me.
