Dear Weinberg Family,
Your mother Shirlee was my 7th grade teacher at Audubon (1978) and I have never had a teacher make an impact on my life since then. I was so honored that she came to my high school graduation and always encouraged me to do well in life---which I did. I met your father once and he was a very nice man. I am so sorry that you have lost both of your parents. I write this today because it is September 1st and your mom always told us that on the first of every month--when you start the day you should say "Rabbit, Rabbit, Rabbit". I was thinking of her as I always do and share with others how she made such an impact on my life. I still remember and do this every 1st of the month. May you and your families be blessed--I am so sorry about the loss of your father.

To the Weinberg Family
It is with deep sorrow to find that both your parent No long walk this earth. I was a student of your Mother at Audubon School.(1968-1971) She had a vest for life that she instilled in her students.
Her life's lessons I still carry with me today. she holds a special place in my heart today and always.
with deep sorrow, David Burns

I will always respect my father for what he accomplished. A decorated bomber pilot in WWII, he refused the Distinguished Flying Cross for an impossible landing of his 4 engine craft on one engine - he declined the medal because the government would not give it to the entire crew.
A national handball champion, superb golfer and card player beyond compare, few knew he could do complex math in his head, had the vocabulary of a Oxford professor and an engaging way of making his point with a single phrase.
Most of all, his love of children and openess to all showed us all what it meant to be a real man. My brother Guy, sister Toby and I loved Dad deeply and have learned so much from him; he will live on in our hearts, memories and the good deeds we do.

I will really miss my dad. You may want to know that he died suddenly, in the arms of his dear caretaker, Ken, with no pain. He was active and intact up to the end: he played cards the day before and spoke with me about an hour before it happened, saying what a good night's sleep he had and how much he loved his new apartment.
I'll have breakfast at Omega tomorrow with Ken, my son Isaac and my brother Mark, in his honor and in keeping with our Saturday morning tradition.
