MESSLEIN-David Peter Messlein, age 61, loving father of Tracey (Andrew) Newport and the late Michelle Messlein. Cherished grandfather of Logan and Sawyer. Dear brother of Barbara (late Jack) Yamich, Patti Messlein, and Karen (Jason) Stanley. Dearest uncle of many nieces and nephews. David was a former dedicated stationary engineer at Little Company of Mary Hospital with 37 years of service. Visitation Thursday, March 18, 2021 from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Service Friday, March 19, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Colonial Chapel 15525 S. 73rd Ave. (155th/Wheeler Dr. & Harlem) Orland Park, IL. To uphold safety guidelines, all guests are asked to wear a mask and respect social distancing requirements. Interment Fairmount Willow-Hills Cemetery, Willow Springs, IL. It was so sad to see Dave’s obituary in the paper. There are so many wonderful memories of him. I moved to 51st and Christiana in June 1977 and was introduced to Dave and his friends by a classmate. There was always a group of us having fun together going to neighborhood parties, walking around the neighborhood and just hanging out but Dave’s basement was the place we all spent most of our time. Looking back, I am grateful that his sister Barb and her husband Jack let us go there especially during that cold and snowy winter. Dave was always so nice and he was everyone’s friend. I don’t recall ever seeing him mad. I am honored to have called him my friend. I picture him in a basement in heaven reminiscing with his family and friends that have already made their transition, relaxing and enjoying each other’s company like we did more than 40 years ago.
