I started as a student aide for Dr. Heller at Loop college in 1976. He was always a kind and gentle soul - like a father figure, always telling me to finish my education. I remember he had this really great looking plant in his office (it was like a small tree) that I just loved. I am truly going to miss him.

DV, I was saddened to read about "Uncle David's" passing. It was always a pleasure to visit with this extraordinary erudite gentleman. He was a true scholar warrior who contributed so much to so many. My deepest sympathy.

My deepest sympathy to you, Dvora, and your entire family at the loss of Dave. He was so kind to me at my interview for a teaching position at the then Loop College in 1967. It was always a pleasure to stop in and see him for a few minutes whenever I was on the administrative floor. His door was always open and I always felt welcome. I know he will be sorely missed.

My sympathies on your loss. I worked at Loop College when Dr. Heller was president. He was a kind, gentle, fair-minded man who helped me at the beginning of my career and supported the funded project I worked for at the college. I know that he was highly regarded by many at Loop College and City Colleges of Chicago.

I was honored to know Dr. Heller through the Gardeners of the North Shore. He was an amazing guy who contributed so much in every aspect of life. Even at White Hall he gave a presentation on Veterans Day. My husband and I would like to offer condolences to Devorah and the entire family.
