David DeCamp Obituary

DeCamp, David Lee age 60, passed away Saturday, October 6, 2007 at his vacation home in Michigan, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chicago and a long time Plainfield resident. A U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran. Retired from USF Holland Transportation after over 27 years of service. Preceded in death by his son, Thomas DeCamp (2001); his parents, George and Loretta DeCamp. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Catherine T. DeCamp of Plainfield; one son, Mike (Lynn) DeCamp of Charlotte, NC; one daughter in law Lana DeCamp of Shorewood, four grandchildren, Collin DeCamp and Joey Sargent; Alessia and Rebecca DeCamp; four brothers George (Marilyn), Jack (Linda), Donald (Carolyn) DeCamp and William Highsmith; four sisters Lugreta (Owyn) Waggy, Maryann (Larry) First, Amy Young and Theresa (Earl) Atchley; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Funeral Services for David Lee DeCamp will be Friday, October 12, 2007, at St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, Plainfield for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment Plainfield Township Cemetery. Memorials in his name to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated. Visitation Today, 5 to 9 p.m., at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds., Joliet. I worked with Dave at USF Holland. I believe he started there in the summer of 1976 and I came there in January of 1977. I heard of his death too late to attend his wake or I would have been there. I liked Dave, he was a nice guy. It's too bad he didn't have more time to enjoy his retirement. I know he liked to fish with his friends and they will miss him in the boat. Rest in Peace, Buddy!
