David Bremer Obituary

Bremer, David Joseph Of Chicago died at home on Sunday August 19, shortly after being diagnosed with advanced liver cancer. Born February 27, 1955, at St. Vincent DePaul Hospital in Chicago, to Frieda Corrigan and Frank Bremer (both deceased), he grew up in LaGrange, IL. He graduated from the Stockbridge School in Massachusetts and attended Northeastern University where he earned a BS in mechanical engineering. David worked as a senior principal patent agent at Scientific Games (formerly WMS). He was an avid music lover (and worked for a time at the Green Mill), an enthusiastic restaurant patron, and a reluctant but appreciative theater-goer who was occasionally roped into providing technical and scenic support to local productions. Many beloved boxer dogs predeceased him: Sidney, Greta, Linus, Zoe, and Bardot. He is survived by his much-loved wife of 25 years, Heather Ann Riordan, and siblings Alex Riordan, Nancy Ross, Patricia Guerrero, Jeanne Vaughn, and Judith Hellwig. He was an all-around nice guy whose affability, kindness, and wry sense of humor will be missed by his many, many friends. A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, August 26 from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Hopleaf Bar, 5148 N. Clark St. In lieu of flowers, kindly send memorial donations to Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.), P.O. Box 691, Skokie, IL 60077, carenorthshore.org.
