Ames and Berkowitz Family,
I will always remember the FUN and loving man, David Berkowitz; a World War 2 hero and my second cousin.
I still have, thirty (30) years later, all the funny and X-rated jokes; for a good laugh, that he would mail to me. But; thats the way Davy always was - FUN. I rarely saw him with a frown on his face (same as my dad, Wally) as he was always smiling and in good spirits. I know he always loved my Mom (Reva) and she would always tell me about the good times they both had growing up as kids and first (1st) cousins.
Living in Arizona, I am glad I was able to see him the last time I was visiting Chicago. He still had that energy to tell me a few raunchy and risque jokes. And that was good.
Sheryl, when I called you on the phone to see how he was doing; you told me that you had just five (5) minutes earlier received the phone call that he had passed away. Davy left us on what would have been his sixty (60) year anniversary with your Mom (Sylvia) and it was also the day of your Moms birthday.
He waited to join her on a special day for both of them and I'm sure they are still celebrating as they look down on you, your immediate family and the rest of their family and friends. Your Mom and Dad are both together again with so MANY, MANY, MANY beloved relatives and friends that we all miss so dearly.
Myself, Robin, Erin and Matthew are thinking of all of you at this time.
I'll always remember Davy Berkowitz as the wonderful person he was. May he finally rest, without pain and medication, in peace.
Love,
Cousin Gary Brin and Family -

Sheryl and family,
It was an honor and a privelege to care for your Father in his last days. He was a kind and gentle man and I am comforted in knowing that he is at peace. His light has left a hole in this earth. My deepest sympathies, Carm RN
