George Koehler Obituary

George Koehler George Koehler, 94 passed away at his home on May 24, 2017. Born in Tacoma in 1923 to Fred and Martha Koehler of Parkland. He was a hard worker and financed his education with a bicycle newspaper route servicing miles of the Parkland area. He graduated from Lincoln High School and then served in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he married his high school sweetheart (Betty Sherwood) in 1947 and worked many years managing Seldens furniture stores until purchasing the Olympia store in 1973. He and Betty raised their two children in Olympia and enjoyed a lifetime of outdoor adventures. He was preceded in death by his brother Fred and granddaughter Laura. Surviving family consists of his wife (Betty) of 69 years, daughter Linda (Robert) of Gig Harbor and son Tim (Peggy) of Olympia plus grandchildren Christopher, Beth, Ryan and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. At his request there will be no memorial service. Remembrances may be sent to: The Rocky Mtn Elk Foundation and Seattle Childrens Hospital.
