I sat on the Green Building Council with Daryl in Asheville. Today, I opened the new Green Building Directory and saw that it was dedicated to him. I had not heard of his passing and am very saddened. Daryl was kind to me as a newcomer and he valued the things I shared and the sustainability experience I brought to the table. He and I shared a similar vision for our communities...the embrace of pedestrian zones, bike paths, greenways and all sorts of gathering spaces meant to connect people. He accomplished a lot of beautiful things in his life and I am interested in furthering any visions he left undone, especially as they pertain to Western North Carolina. My deepest love extends to his wife and children. Sincerely, Tiffany Hallock ([email protected]; 828-275-3699)

I am saddened to think it has nearly been a year since we lost Daryl. We miss him. I can't really put into proper words how we cope. Days pass and we show up, still without him.

I'm saddened to hear about Daryl. I knew him in college and he was a talented force out in that sea of wheat. He will be missed. Will always remember his humor and creativity.

I barely knew Daryl, but I love his family and am so sorry for such a great loss. He was a shining example of what a peoson can be and do if they follow their dreams and are true to themselves.

Every time I saw Daryl he made me smile and laugh and listen and applaud. He was one of the most gifted men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was a devoted father, proud of his girls and in love with his amazing wife. He was and is loved.

Daryl was a close friend and mentor dating back to college. There are very few people I have met in life that had a passion for life and architecture as Daryl had. I am saddened by his passing and his vision never fully realized. He had so much to offer it hardly seems fair that he has left us with so many unfulfilled expectations of his work. He was a gifted artist and my life is better having known him.
