I grew up in the garage of Elmer Zehlof who bought the Eric Lund #39 Crossfire Ford V8 60 and raced it for many years. I remember hearing stories from him about the many wins that Danny had with the car against Offies. After Elmer died in 1986, Danny came up and sat in the car with tears rolling down his cheeks. You could tell he loved that car! My heart goes out to you all. Dwight Stefan Hartford, Wisconsin

Our deepest sympathy goes out to the Kladis Family. I will never forget the stories that George told me about Danny and the times that they had together. It truely represented the love that a son has for his father. Danny truely was a great man.

Bon Voyage and Thanks for the memories, Danny Kladis! From a fat kid in the stands thrilled by the Saturday night lights on Joliet's western horizon, the noise and excitement of some of the country's best auto racing and the joy of an era when guys with day jobs became weekend heroes.

Danny was to be retired when I met him in 1989! He was so busy with so many things going on and was a tremendous person. He never blinked twice to help someone out. From the old 'Orange Crate' of a boat Carol and I had to the'PigRoasting' kettle and everything in between. He was one of my heroes as well but for a whole lot of different reasons. Thanks be to GOD for the gift of Danny and all that he shared with us. He is one of the greatest indeed.

Danny was quite a guy and really knew the workings of automobiles. I first came to know him in the late 50's when he was a service rep for Ford Motor Co and I was service manager at a Lincoln-Mercury dealer.
I also knew George when I worked at the Ford assembly plant on Chicago's south side.
My most heartfelt sympathies for the family and God bless all.

Danny Kladis was always a lot of fun and very knowledgable about many things, most especially automobiles and how they ran.
Danny and his son George were great midget car drivers and mechanics, providing great family entertainment.
Danny will be missed by me and my family.
It was a pleasure to have him as a friend.

My Dad and Danny were friends from Ford Motor Company. My Dad was Jimmy Bliss. He passed away New Years Day this year. They were both the same age. We tried calling Danny at his home in New Lenox but to no avail. We did not know that he was in a facility. My Dad loved Danny and always spoke so highly of him. They were Greek Americans born in small American towns. My Dad in Cedar Falls, Iowa. I think they were raised similarly. They never forgot their Greek Heritage but were proud to be Americans.Dad always said Danny was the best mechanic and new the most about cars. May his memory be eternal. Elaine Bliss Rantis

Danny Kladis is one of my childhood heroes.
Neither he or the family knows who I am but I used to watch him at the midget races in the Joliet stadium. My father took us evey week ( he passed in 1993) I was so young and the cars were soooo loud and the place was soooo exiting and Danny was my hero. I couldn't wait to get there and see him on the track walking around before the race..My heart goes out to each of the family and friends this day.God will reunite us in his glorious day..
