Just heard the sad news. Boyhood friends since 1949 that lasted through all the years----Bret Harte and Hyde Park Schools,Teen Canteen, the University of Wisconsin, reunions, and all "the gang" celebrating their 50th communual birthday together in 1990.

GONE BUT ALWAYS REMEMBERED BY ALL.

Dan was a wonderful funny man with odd habits like his tuna sandwiches everytime he came to the Flaum household. I have followed his career for many of years and of course who could ever forget his fireside Christmas parties. He was

Uncle Dan to many people. I miss his jokes and the world is a sadder place without him. My condolonces to his family.

I am glad we had dinner last summer when you were in Maine, you always thought I had the worst taste in women but I think my judgment has improved this year. You will be missed, you were Chicago's own Santa Claus. God Speed Dan.

So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. My favorite memory: on my wedding day, he TOLD my husband and I that we would, of course, be sharing the next day (the first of our married life!) walking the Old Town Art Fair WITH HIM. And we did! And had a great time, one I'll remember always. We love you, Dan. Christine Pigott Brown

Dan Weil was a terrific person, kind to all. Like Sara Lee, "nobody doesn't like Dan Weil". Our thoughts are with the family.

I will always remember waiting for Mr. Weil anxiously every Christmas for him to show up with presents. In 21 years he only missed 1. Many fond memories of the Fireplace Inn, and freezing afterwards when my dad made us stand outside in front of the big Christmas tree for pictures. Christmas won't be the same without you. You will be missed.

We are shocked and saddened to read of Danny's death. Though we have not seen him for a number of years, we did stay in touch and shared so many past experiences and memories.

He will always be in our hearts and prayers.

We first met Dan when we were working to improve Old Town in Chicago. His insights and help were invaluable, and he became a treasured friend. We will miss him very much. We are very sorry we could not attend his service at KAM

I was so shocked to read of the passing of Dan, as I had the pleasure of working with him the Sheriff's Office many years ago. I just shared an evening with him at a Sheriff's office reunion and laughed at all his many stories and memories of the past. He was a charming and wonderful friend and his memories will last forever.

I am so saddened - actually horrified - to learn of Dan's passing. I will miss him and his stories and his charming and wonderful sense of humor and his companionship over many dinners.

Fortunately he leaves many wonderful memories which I am grateful for.
