Conrad Samonek Obituary

Conrad Samonek, age 72, of Romulus, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2008 at the VA Medical Center-Veteran's Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.Born in Sumpter, MI on November 26, 1935 to the late Joseph R. Samonek and Irene (Zimba) Tuxford. He was raised in Sylvania, Ohio where he graduated from Burnham High School, class of 1953. He was a member of their award winning Marching Band and a member of the Drama Club, where he had the leading part in a favorite High School play, "My Little Margie." Conrad proudly served in the United States Marine Corp. in the 1950's and was a member of the Drum and Bugle Corp.He was a residential home builder and he also taught building trades at Romulus, MI, High School. He was a long standing member of the Belleville Community for many years. He belonged to numerous service organizations, including the Shriner's, Elks, Moose and American Legion.He married Alberta Domen of Belleville in 1957 and had 4 children; Conrad "Sam" (Diana) Samonek of Belleville, Robin Morris, Craig (Shawn) Samonek of Belleville and Julie (Mike) Campbell, 13 grandchildren; Robert, Maranda, Scott, Warren, Varonica, Audra, Ashley, Courtney, Ryan, Joe, Tori, Justin and Elise, 7 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers Robert (Nancy) Samonek of Trinadad, Texas and Jerry (Betty) Samonek of Mabank, Texas, a sister Joyce Samonek of Chazy, New York, also numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.He was preceded in death by his parents, also his grandparents Stanley and Francis Samonek and Roman and Julia Zimba.A gathering will be Friday, March 28, 2008 from 1-3 PM with a 3 PM Memorial Service with Pastor Bill Kren officiating.Mr. Samonek donated his body to the University of Michigan Hospital to further other's education and research. Cremation rites will later be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Please sign his guest book for his family to keep.
