Clarabelle Bailey Obituary

Bailey, Clarabelle (nee McKinlay), died May 29 at Rush University Hospital of respiratory failure and lung cancer. Born in Chicago on June 25, 1915, she returned here to live with her son in 2002. She attended Calumet High School and was President of the All City Girls Conference. She met her husband of 58 years, the late Clark Allison Bailey, at the Univ. of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana, where she was elected Junior Prom Queen, and active in the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. She was a teacher at Calumet and Englewood High Schools in the 1940s, and later lived in Greenwich, CT and Belleair Bluffs, FL. She is pre-deceased by her niece, Bonnie McKinlay Schwarze. She is survived by her nephew, Robert Todd McKinlay Jr., of Westerville, Ohio as well as her cousin's daughter, Jean Berghoff, and her son Allan Wilson Bailey, both of Chicago. Her parents were Robert Wilson McKinlay and Ethel Todd McKinlay. Services will be held at the Fourth Presbyterian Church in Chicago at 126 E Chestnut Street on Thursday June 4 at 11:30 a.m. in Blair Chapel.

Hi Allan,

My prayers and thoughts are with you today. I lifted you and your mother for prayers in church this past Sunday. You were lucky to have your mother for so long, and you were always very attentive with her and you should always be proud that you could do so much for her. She was a very lovely lady.
