Clara Strickland-Wilson Obituary

Mrs. Clara Jean Strickland-Wilson departed this life on Monday, April 28, 2008, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Vineyard Church of Davenport, with visitation held Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.
Clara was born the daughter of Hendry and Rose Strickland on May 1, 1945, in Memphis, Tenn. She became a resident of the Quad Cities area in 1971.
Clara attended school at Shelby School in Memphis, Tenn.
She was a homemaker.
Clara will be remembered as a loving and giving person. She loved her old-time music, dancing, going to the movies and traveling. She also loved cooking her Sunday dinners and enjoying her family. Clara was not only a mother to her own family, but also to many others.
Clara leaves behind not to mourn but to celebrate her life: husband, Melvin Jr. Mosley, sister, Margaret Rose, three brothers, James (Judy) Johnson, Pat Jr. Johnson, and Steve Rose, five daughters and three sons, Sarah and (Willie) Balcom, Lewis T. Wilson, Shirley Ann Taylor (Charles Fontleroy), Norma Jean and (Robert) Liddell, Elisha Wilson and (Roy Quick), Anthony and (Donna) Wilson, Jerome and (Tonya) Wilson, Gwen Denice Wilson and (Henry Hubert); three stepchildren, Darnell and Sabrina Moseley-Precy Manning, and Temickie Mosley, 19 granddaughters, 14 grandsons, 16 great-granddaughters, and 15 great-grandsons, all of Davenport, Iowa, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, friends and sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law, Sadie Jackson and Louise Hollingshed, and adopted sister, Shelbia "Jean" Bennett.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband, Mr. Lewis "LT" Wilson, her daughter, Wanda Wilson-Ocloo, granddaughter, Anderanna Wilson, and son-in-law, Fred Taylor.
