To My Dear Friend Susie and her family,
1st--Ditto everything my hubby Tom said but of course I have just a few of my own thoughts to add.
Susie and Chris, Tom and Helene (or whatever nickname I had at the time)double-dated for the last 37 years of our lives starting with our senior class trip in Washington D.C. which was followed by our senior Prom to the last trip we were planning--Italy in 2008.
Three special memories of Chris--
1) When we all lived in Elmhurst and were ready to go out (wherever!) Tom, Susie and me would have to pry Chris away from some deep philosophical discussion he was having with my Dad who was always ready to discuss anything with anyone and Chris was always up for the challenge.
2) Chris could pack all of Susie's stuff plus the golf clubs in the smallest spaces available--there was never one inch of wasted trunk/car space and he knew where everything was--as long as we didn't mess with it.
3) Chris and I were the practical savers while Susie and Tom were always thinking of new ways to spend money. Some people called Chris and I tightwads--believe it or not! I always found great comfort knowing Chris would back me up but of course we would generally lose to Susie and Tom.
Chris was a dear friend and such an important part of the Kacich family. May Christ's love and peace be with us all.
Love,
Helene
P.S. I was the oldest of the group and Chris was the baby and Tom and Susie never let us forget that.

Susie, Brian, Kevin, Patrick, Trues and Dunnes,
Through these many years, Chris' ready smile and laugh has echoed through the distance, and I hear it even now. Life is a journey, not a destination. He has reached his... Be comforted by that and know we are all there for your journey in the days ahead... however we can. Love, Rose

Susie, Brian, Kevin, Patrick and all other family members:
I have so many wonderful memories of our friend Christo: playing intramural basketball in high school (we were short and slow but we couldn't shoot); camping trips to Wisconsin; going to the Dunes and listening to Motown; my first Illini basketball game (in 1971, I think); weddings, babies, baptisms and then a new round of weddings, babies and baptisms; great times playing golf (we couldn't hit long or straight but we had fun hitting short and crooked); going to Sox games at the old Comiskey and the new one; watching him dance like Chief Illiniwek; letting us horn in on your family vacations at White Lake; bragging about our kids and grandkids; tailgating at Illini football games; enjoying a dinner cooked by Chef Brian.
I'm so sorry for all of us that we'll never again be around to see Chris' love of life, love of family, love of the Bears, the Illini and even the Sox. I've never known anyone else who could so savor a Manhattan or a Martini, or study food labels or packages or take so long to putt (except Tiger Woods).
He was an original (I will not say a True original), a great friend, a guide, a mentor, my best best man, a very intelligent man but also wonderfully grounded and selfless.
I will miss him but I know he is in a better place. I wonder if in the place he went the Bears beat the Colts and the Sox swept the Cubs.
