Just walked past the building which housed the recruiting station where me met over 20 years ago. It broke my heart when I heard of your passing all those years ago. I think of you often and am thankful we met. I was probably the easiest contract you ever had. It was great keeping in touch as I moved through the Q-Course. Thanks for standing watch up there.

Hey. I'm not sure why I'm typing this out instead of just... praying... in my mind. I just want you to know that I think about you all the time, man.
And because I feel bad, that I don't feel more bad, you know? Time is supposed to heal wounds, but I feel awful all the time ANYWAY, why not for THIS? I didn't ever really want it to stop hurting, and part of me will always hate that it does.
But I knew that would happen. What I didn't expect was to think about you as much as I still do. And for that, I'm grateful. They say you're never really gone, as long as someone remembers your name, and my daughters know yours.
So, I hope that means something to you, or your mom, or your wife, or your daughter. Or whoever is here, still reading this stuff. We all miss you, man.
But we're all so glad we get to remember.

Hello,
We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Webb Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Christopher R. Webb US Army Staff Sergeant. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you strong.
Sincerely,

It seems that every time I visit this page I never know what to say and end up writing nothing and I'm sorry its taken so long. I've never forgotten the things you've done for me when I was down and out. I've always appreciated your honesty as my recruiter, as a man, and as a father to be. Even though the time that I knew you for was short I always reflect on it and wish you were still here. You will always be remembered by me as what a man and a soldier should be. To your family members, I am sorry for your loss.

I never knew Chris, but his wife Shalan is one of my bestest and closest friends. Every day I thank God for the sacrifice he made for me and for our country.
Chris - I know you through stories, through pictures, through your wife, and through the most beautiful little girl in the world that you helped create. They miss you so much... You would really be proud of your wife... She is an amazingly strong woman and she is doing an incredible job of raising Mary. As you know, they talk about you and to you all the time. Mary knows her daddy's flag and will always let us know whenever she sees one... She is such a precious gift. I look forward to meeting you one day in heaven and saying a huge THANK YOU face to face for all you have given to me through your sacrifice and through the gifts of your daughter and wife.
It is in Chris's honor that the youth group I run is collecting beanies for our troops through an organization called Beanies for Baghdad. This is just a small token of my/our appreciation for who you are and what you did.

I served with Ssg. Christopher Webb in Iraq before he passed, he was my nco and in charge of our platoon. He taught me what a real nco is and stands for. The day we lost him was the worst day i've ever experienced. I hope he know that the smoking that he gave me a week before we rolled out and he passed really affected me and let me know that he cared and wanted me to be a nco and Ssg Webb i am now that nco you wanted and i dedicate it to you.

Larry, myself and the faithful followers of RawXhaust would not have the great Army memories that we do wihtout Chris. I served with Chris back before 9/11. The Army seems that it was probably much different then. It was Bill Clinton time and young soldiers just didn't think of going to war. We just prayed that our chief didn't smell the beer on our breath during formation. Me, Chris, and a feller by the name of Dave Rowe started a little band called rawXhaust. It really wasn't much but the year or so that we played and partied together is one of the most memorable of my life. I want to thank him for those memories. It really hurst my heart that he had such a young daughter and then had to leave for Iraq. I know this had to torment Christ. First and foremost he was a down to Earth descent person. Duty called... His sacrifice will not go unremembered. If his daughter is ever reading this and wants to hear some old rawXhaust stories about her dad. you get in touch with me little girl. i've got a little girl of my own. i know the love of a father and his little girl. my name is larry huff. i'm in alaska right now, but it won't be long until i am in Virginia to stay. I'll be living somewhere in Appalachia or Keokee, VA. Or some other little coal camp down in the the heart of God's country, Southwest Virginia. i truly thank Chris for his service, but even more I thank him for his friendship and just being the man he was. I will pray for his daughter and family. If I can ever be of any service, please feel free to contact me. I would be honored to assist the family of the fallen war hero, Christopher R. Webb. I wish that I knew the words to say how my heart truly feels. I love this country, and I love those who serve to protect the freedoms that we have. That has never been more apparent to me now that I have kids and I want them to grow up in a safe environment. So I do love the United States. Thank you Chris for making the ultimate sacrifice to keep our children safe. You was a good man and a helluva drummer! I really hope the little one will contact me someday so I can tell her all that I know about you.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.
Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.
I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

On Jnauary 22, 2007 we lost our son-in-law in Iraq. Spec. Nicholas Brown was in 2/7 Cav and loved being a soldier. He left behind a young wife and a newborn son. He enjoyed learning from the "pros" who helped him become the soldier he wanted to be. As I have read this book I am reading letters from men who had their lives turned around. There are letters from men who valued his friendship and guidance. The main ingredient in all of this is Ssgt. Webb. There is no greater praise than that which comes from your friends. Because of Nick I am signing all Guest Books of fallen soldiers of 1st Cavalry Division. As my grandson grows up he will learn not only what his father did but also heroes like Christopher. He stands as a hero in the finest traditions of the United States Army. Thank you,

“Soldier”
Written to Honor the Service of Our Fallen Soldiers
Soldiers write history…they pay the price
Many miles distant, you live the life
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We hope and pray that all will find peace
In God, in the flag, in memories of valor
Gone now, our pride and courage you see
“An Army of One” our motto forever
Willing to risk all for love of our Brothers
We’re still Your Soldiers…and we showed the way
Our Lives too short, now pray for the others
Lived free died Heroes in lands far away
Deep within souls all cherished our Service
We’ll always have what some never know
Courage and Honor, our names forever
Lived life with purpose…just our time to go
We march in the Heavens with Honor and Glory
Missions accomplished we fought the Good Fight
Many years from now…we’ll tell the full story
Until that Day we will live in the Light
Our lives we laid down in a land far away
Still watching o’er you this night and by day
No need to talk…just know we are with you
There in your hearts and we hear what you pray
Yes we are your soldiers
Our lives we laid down
Still We guard o’er you
Still Duty bound
Entered the Battle of our own free will
Out of Duty for Country, and we’d do it still
We’ll always have what some never know
Lived life with purpose…it was our time to go

It was my honor to attend Chris's memorial in Hemet yesterday with my son, Daniel, and Ramon, who were best friends for so long. Chris touched our lives in such a positive way as a young man and will continue to do so in the way we promised to commit to living our lives as we remembered Chris following the service. Our support of the troops, and our continued prayers for them each and every day is a direct reflection of our love for Chris and his memory. Thank you again, Teresa, for raising such a wonderful man, and thank you also, Shalan, for the sacrifices you made as a military wife. What can I say? I feel like I wasted so many opportunities to find him. I had wondered about him after he joined the service, but I have lousy handwriting and didn’t really know what to write him anyway. I never worried about him; he told me what a blast he was having when he came to visit when he was on leave. He told me about playing quick-draw with a couple of .45s and one seriously unlucky can. We all liked guns when we were younger; Chris handed me the first gun I ever held in my life. We all loved the idea of being a solider; we had model airplanes in our rooms, and G.I. Joes under our beds. But he was a lot braver that I was. He grew up to be a hero. When he joined the Army, I just thought of it as another job. I thought about looking him up, but I just figured I’d see him around. Then after 9/11 I wanted to make sure he was okay, but I figured that the government didn’t just release information to old high school buddies wondering about their friends, so I never looked him up. I wondered about him from time to time, but I don’t see anyone else I knew from that time, so he only came up when I was feeling nostalgic. And I never wrote him. And now I can’t. Now he’s gone. I know it’s been said before, and more eloquently that I ever could, but if you care about someone, let them know. He was one of my best friends, and I still remembered him fondly, even after over ten years. But he never knew. And now I’ll never get to tell him.

As SSG Webb's mother I guess you could say I knew him the longest. I have at times felt overwhelmed with the response by everyone since his parting. It makes me proud that he was able to touch so many lives in such a positive way. There is no doubt in my mind he is in heaven watching and helping each of us today. I want to thank every one who helped to make Chris' service so honorable. Please know that our hearts, prayers, support and love continue to go out to Chris' fellow soldiers and the 2/5 and their families.

I don't have much to say. Chris was a great guy. I didn't get to know him well, but what I knew I liked. He was a good influence for my husband and all the other soldiers he worked with. I got to see him around his wife a few times and you could see the love he had for her. He will be missed by everyone who knew him, because whether he meant to or not, he touched their lives in one way or another. For me it was indirectly through my husband and seeing the respect my husband had (and still has) for him. I just can't express my gratitude to him for giving so much for our country. And to Shalan and Mary, my prayers will always be with you, and if you ever need anything I am here, even if it's just someone to talk to.

Webb Family Members: Know in your time of loss that the brave and gallant service provided the United States by Chris has enabled us all to enjoy the freedoms and protections that he, like so many before him, gave their lives to secure and preserve. Even greater the sacrifice in this war is the that Chris gave his life so that people in another country, completely unknown to him, can someday enjoy the same freedoms and protections we here in the US all-too-often take for granted. He is truly a hero, to be honored, and the embodiment of what it means to be an American.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I served as SSG Webb's 1SG for 2 years and just returned from his funeral. Anyone can see what a great Man and Soldier he was by just reading all the entries in this guest book. I thank all the Soldiers from Central Jersey Company for sending messages of this Mans legacy so his daughter can someday see inside the Man we all had the privalege to share time with. I have served for 23 years and have only had 1 of my Soldiers pass prior to the passing of Christopher Webb. This passing hurt my heart like no other. Since first meeting this young Soldier I loved his whole demeanor and attitude on life because he was a Soldier through and through and everything a 1SG could ask for. He never complained and went beyond the call of duty on many occassions. What was truly remarkable was that 6 months prior to him leaving recruiting, when most Soldiers stop focusing on the mission, I asked him to step up and take command of Red Bank station that had 4 brand new recruiters and the station was in trouble. Without hesitation he took over and mentored these Soldiers and turned that station around. After knowing him for awhile it became clear to me that he was a great Man that just happened to be a Soldier. I thank his parents, his wife, his friends, and fellow Soldiers for raising and mentoring a fine young man because without all of you he would not have achived what he acheived. We will never forget you SSG Christopher Webb or will we let our commarades ever forget the sacrifice you made.

My prayers go out to your family. SSG Webb was a true Non Commissioned Officer who inspired all he encountered.I served with SSG Webb during his tour as a recruiter for the Mid Atlantic Recruiting Battalion and can honestly say he was one of the top recruiters in the Battalion.SSG Webb loved to ride his motorcycle and was admired by fellow soldiers. Gods Speed and you will be missed.

There is very little I, as the father of one of the men who served with Sgt. Webb, can say to relieve the pain his family is suffering. Nevertheless, let me say that he died a courageous soldier; the debt we all owe him is incalculable. His sacrifice will not be forgotten. He and his family will be in my prayers each day. May comfort and peace be with them.

When I found out of SSG Webb's death it took the wind right out of me. There are no words that can explain the sadness and sympathy I feel for his family. I can only say that I know SSG Webb was one of the best NCO's I have ever had the privilege of serving with. His mentorship and guidance helped me through the most challenging parts of my career. I could not have asked for a better mentor. He changed more peoples lives in the three years he was a recruiter than most people do in a lifetime. Anyone who knew him, loved him. I have never seen a Recruiter have the loyalty of their recruits like SSG Webb. SSG Webb we miss you and you will always be remebered. To his family you are always in our prayers. To his beautiful child your father is a hero. SSG Christopher Webb Rest in Peace, watch over us from above, we will see you again.

To the family and loved ones of Staff Sgt. Christopher Webb, I send you my love and prayers for comfort and healing. Your story sounds so similar to what our family experienced on Dec. 17th, 2006, when our oldest grandson, Seth Stanton, was killed in action in Iraq by an IED. I am so sorry to hear of yet another brave, young man losing his life. The courage and strength that our beloved ones have shown will never be forgotten.
From our family to yours, we pray that as you pull close to God and to each other you will be strengthened and comforted. May your wonderful memories always be a joy and comfort to you. Your Christopher sounds like a really special man, touching many lives and having so many who loved him. Just like our Seth. I hope they meet in heaven.
Dear ones, blessings to you.........May God's love hold and surround you through these painful days.

Family and Friends,
I had the chance to work side by side with this Great American. SSG WEBB was an example of our Army Values, he was loyal to whom he served and displayed selfless service to whom he led. It is of my upmost regret the fact that he won't be among us in body, however as saden as I am I know that he will be among us in spirit. To his wife be strong and may GOD pour blessings over you and your child. Chris I am honored that I was given the opportunity to serve with you in RED BANK, NJ Recruiting Station. Chris you will be greatly missed

Freedom is not free; it is paid for by our heroes!
I know the pain parents feel when they loose a child. I lost a son 19 years ago. It is a pain that defies description. It is a pain that never goes away. It is a pain that will never end. It is a pain that is all consuming. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
May God Bless and keep you today, tomorrow and forever!
Rest in Peace Brave Warrior; you did your duty with great honor and dedication.

I sign this guest book with a heavy heart but I did what to express my condolences to his family. Chris was not only a great friend but he was a great soldier. I had the pleasure to recruit with him while he and I were recruiters in NJ. We had some great times, some rough times but some great memories. He talked about his soldiers daily and how much he enjoyed leading them. My prayers go to his wife and his beautiful child. Im am so sorry for your loss. Shalan and your daughter, you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.

I learned about Chris's passing this morning, and I must say I am deeply saddened by this news.
I met Chris 3 years ago while he was up here recruiting in Red Bank, NJ. My Fiance Samantha was a fellow recruiter with him. It was a pleasure calling him a friend, he was a true soldier in every sense of the word.
I had the pleasure of meeting his wife at an ATC event in Hershey, PA and I just wanted to send my deepest sympathies and condolences.
Rest in peace Chris.

I can honestly say that Chris was a dear friend to both my wife and I. After he left NJ for Texas, we kept in contact regularly. I was worried when he left for Iraq because of both his MOS and the area he was to be patrolling in. We continued to correspond while he was there and I always thanked God when I saw another e-mail from him. His wife messaged my wife on Fri while we were finishing up decorating our new house. After my wife told me, I cried for hours, not just because I missed him, but because he left behind a newborn and a wife. Nothing I can say will ever bring him back, and nothing I can say will ever help his family feel better about this horrible event. But I hope they take solace in knowing that Chris was a dear friend to my wife and me and he will be missed. There will always be a special place in my heart for Chris and I will never forget him. Chris is a true patriot and hero, I dont care what anyone says about him. You will be truly missed Chris. Rest with the Lord now.

To the Family and Friends of this Soldier:
I will stand in grief with this soldier's family to honor him. For every fallen HERO there is a bright star that shines in the evening sky to remind us of the cherished gift we were given – even if for too short a time.
My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courageous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life, but I promised Brent that neither he nor any like him would be forgotten and so I will continue until the day there is no longer the need.
We lost our son SFC Brent A. Adams on 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday. I wish so badly there were things I could say to you right now to make the pain you are feeling go away, but I know first hand there simply are no words that will bring you the comfort and peace your heart aches for. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you go through this tragedy moment by moment and as you mourn this loss.
We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with as our hearts both burst with pride and pain together.
I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally. While they can never be replaced, neither will they ever be forgotten. You must trust that sometime, someday the loving memories you have will help to sustain you and help you go on. This courageous soldier will forever be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well.
To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is your wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever.
If you ever want to talk, I'm only an e:mail away and would love for you to tell me more about your Hero.
God Bless this soldier and family who gave all and God Bless legacy.com for setting up this site where families can so quickly share their condolences and prayers with others like themselves.
