Christopher Marcell Obituary

MARCELL, CHRISTOPHER LAMONT 1972 - 2006. Christopher Lamont Marcell was born on June 10, 1972, in Portland to John L. Marcell and Cheryl Phillips. He was the eldest of the three children they had together. He died on Feb. 28, 2006, at the age of 33 from complications of congestive heart failure. Christopher attended Elliott Elementary, Alameda Elementary, Beaumont Middle School and Grant High School. He participated in the Talented and Gifted (TAG) program for several years. Everyone who knows him knew how much he loved to smile, laugh and enjoy life. He collected music, loved to shop, and you could always expect to see him with a fruit juice and a pocket full of candy. He was outgoing and loyal to his family and friends. When he flashed you his dimple-cheeked smile or said, "I love you", you knew they weren't just words, it was sincere. You could count on him having your back and saying, "what'd you cook?!" Christopher Lamont Marcell chose Jesus Christ as his personal savior and gave his life to the Lord only a few days before passing. Placing him into God's book of life and before sin could tempt him again; God called him home so his child would no longer suffer. He leaves to rejoice great-grandmother, Odessa McDonald; grandmother, Lemurel Foster; grandfather, Edwin Phillips; father, John Marcell; mother, Cheryl L. Marcell; two daughters, Brittnie Marcell and Xavia Jones; siblings, John Marcell, Jr., Terry Lashawn Jackson, Johnya Marcell-Hampton, John Smith, Walter Lashawn Smith, Marcell Smith, DeAnthony Marcell, Napoleon Carter; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him. At the gates of Heaven he will reunite with great-grandfather, Earl McDonald, Sr.; great-grandmother, Helen Brown; grandmother, Ella Marcell; many cousins and close friends.
