Christopher Hansen Obituary

Died October 29, 2005

TRAVERSE CITY - Christopher Paul Hansen, 22, of Traverse City, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, in Leland.

Christopher was born Nov. 7, 1982, in Northport, the son of James A. Hansen and Karen L. Kolarik.

Chris was a unique person to all. To some he was the hardest worker, to some he was sensitive and shy, and to some maybe even stubborn. But most importantly, he was himself.

As a child, Chris loved soccer and excelled in academics and technology. He loved computers. He was a quick learner and was eager to attend college studying computer sciences.

Chris was a talented cook, a self-taught mechanic, a lover of music, and a high-achiever of anything he set his mind to. Chris was a fine example of a gentleman, loyal and loving.

Chris took care of everyone he encountered, including his new pet kitten. Those who knew him felt blessed to have had him in their lives, and will forever hold his love in their hearts.

Chris is survived by his parents; his stepfather, Leo Kohler; maternal grandfather, Charles Kolarik; paternal grandfather, Paul G. Hansen; paternal grandmother, Jane Wooden; special family members, including Beth Holleman and Sal Ingrao; and his sister, Carrie Lynn Hansen.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Mary Kolarik.

Visitation will take place this evening, Tuesday, Nov. 1, from 3 to 8 p.m., with a vigil service at 7:30 p.m., at Martinson Funeral Home in Suttons Bay.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, at St. Michael's Catholic Church of Suttons Bay. The Rev. Wayne Dziekan will serve as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Suttons Bay.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Mass Intentions or the Northwestern Michigan College Foundation for Scholarships for Students with Financial Need, in memory of Christopher Hansen, 1701 E. Front St., Traverse City, MI 49686.

Arrangements are with the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

I worked with Chris for four years at the Bluebird. He was always willing to make you smile, or just chat about whatever was going on that day. I last saw him at the end of May before I moved out to California. A small group of us got together and spent the night hanging out, just like old times. And then to see that he had passed away was a great shock. It has been hard being so far away and not able to be with anyone back home to comfot each other.

My sincere sympathy goes out to his family and other freinds. Chris was a great guy who would do anything in his ability to help you.

So my comfort and prayers go out to you all.

I truly enjoyed working with Chris at the Bluebird. When he smiled or laughed his whole face lit up. He was a good guy and always treated me with respect. I will miss his smile. I know even though I will only be able to see his smile in my mind forever on, he is with God and at peace and he will always be smiling down on all of us. Love and miss you Chris.
