We would like to express our deepest condolences and also let the Zimny Family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and we'll be dedicating several of these to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and the hometown of Christopher E. Zimny US Marine Corporal. We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community. Dear Family of Cpl. Christopher E. Zimny,

We want to say thank you. We understand that no words can be adequate for your sorrow. We certainly do not want to intrude upon your privacy. As Americans we want you to know that we deeply appreciate the ultimate sacrifice your loved one has made for all of us. We also would like for you to be aware that with this letter comes our special concern and prayers for you. We are all safer because young men and women who love their country, and know the value of a free nation, are willing to put themselves in harms way, and lay down their lives to keep this nation free and safe for all of us.
Your sacrifice is also very great. We know that we can give little comfort; however, the knowledge that your loved one did not die in vain, but died in the service of our country, gives each of us a noble example of the value of life, and the responsibility of freedom. Even though I didn't know this young man, I want to just say that I thank him and his family for his sacrifice for a country I love. I love the freedom that we enjoy today. My son is the same age as Christopher would be, and two years ago was crushed under a car. He survived and is paralyzed from the waist down. I love these young men and their willingness to go on. Again, my condolences to you.

Hey Zimny its been just a little over three years since you've passed. I am glad I had the privilege of serving with you, both times. Also, i wanted to say that i miss your goofy Florida Gators hat which just barely sat on the top of your head. Just know that you are missed and we will all see you again one day. P.s. Can you believe they gave me and Hartsell sergeant? Crazy world we live in.

From the days at 2030 through SOI. We were seperated at Lejeune and fought the war on 2 fronts side by side. I often wondered how you were doing over there. I had just got back from my second pump and you were to return in a matter of weeks from you second. I met a man named LCpl Wilson who served with you in 1/2. He was going to take me to see you when you got home in 2 weeks. It was that day that we made that arrangement that you left this world. You are one of the greatest men I have ever had the privilige to meet. Rest in peace brother, until we meet again.

Oh yeah, and in ROTC, I'm in Alpha Company.

Oh my god. I knew about this before, but seeing that video, full of people saying Chris Zimny... Wow.

I'm in ROTC now, and I love it. My friends brother is in the Marines.

There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

If Chris was anything like John then I understand your loss. I drove with John for the eight weeks he was a cpunselor at sports camp. I know john misses his brother which is edivance in the tatoo he had done this summer. Again I am so dearly sorry for your loss

I sit here 0817 05/10/08 with a bottle of Jim with tears in my eyes. From Plt. 2030 to SOI and finaly to Lejeune remembering the stuffed nemo fishes you bought for my little girls. I wil never forget you Zim.

I went to Rosary College with Michele if my name does not look familiar to you. I saw Chris' picture on the news and my heart immediately dropped for your family. Mr. and Mrs. Zimny (Lisa, Michelle, Danielle and John)

We use to be neighbors before you had moved to Glenview. We use to hang out and play between each others houses. My brother and Christopher would ride bikes or watch cartoons on the t.v. and Lisa and I would be walking around or playing in the alley. I remember Lisa and I would annoy our brothers to the point that they would go and tell. But to make a long story short. I remember one time I had a cold and your mom did not want me to get any of you sick( Now I know why and I don't blame her she had 5 of you) so she would not let us play. I had called Lisa and told her to go underneath her porch and we would chill there. Well soon enough we were hanging but then came her mom and chased me out. Chris saw I was leaving your house and he had thought me and Lisa got into a fight and I had told him what happened and he said to me that time would heal my cold. It did.

The news of Christopher brought tears to my eyes. He was a very brave and courageous man. And just as he told me time would heal my cold time will heal the hurt inside. I will pray for you and your family through this difficult time.

Christopher Zimny, a brave hero, willing and ready to serve his country in a war torn land. Although I only met him briefly at the military hospital in Germany in 2003, I knew of his dedication to the men he served with and his country.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Zimny,

In 1964 I left St. Fidelis Church in Humboldt Park to serve as a chaplain in the Navy. Within a couple of months I was in the Vietnam jungles with 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines, the ground pounders. On return I spent a tour at Great Lakes and then returned to Nam to the combat Navy Hospital in Danang. Practically all our patients were Marines helicoptered in directly from all the northern battlefields. In fact, one of my vivid memories was when one of the young marines brought in from a land-mined AMTRAC was one of my boys from St. Fidelis. To be able to anoint him made my whole military service worthwhile.



It is with these thoughts that I write today to console you in your loss. I consider your son a hero and also yourselves for you shared him with our Nation. Christopher has been, is, and will be in my Masses and prayers. I pray that the Good Lord will give you the grace and strength to carry on.
