Chester Kowalski Obituary

Kowalski, Chester W. "Chuck" Navy Veteran, beloved and faithful husband of the late Wanda G. "Cookie" (nee Sumidlowski) for 47 years, loving and proud father of Gregory (Genevieve nee Prodyma) Kowalski, cherished grandfather of Gregory Joseph (13), Grace Rose (5), and Nicholas Michael (4), dearest brother of Patricia (John) Papierz, Robert (Sally) Kowalski, and Shirley Bicknell, devoted godfather of Frankie Bicknell, uncle of many nieces and nephews, a special thank you to Miguel and Maria Jimenez for their love, care taking, kindness, and support, beloved friend to many. Chester was a proud employee of Western Electric Co. (Hawthorne Works Plant) from 1958 until they closed in 1986. He enjoyed working there and continued talking about it throughout the remainder of his life as though he still worked there. A very fond retiree of School District 33C. He often said, "Although I only worked there for a short time, the time I spent there were some of the best times of my life." He often spoke of David Trella, his supervisor "No one could have worked for a better person, as he took very good care of me." A special note from me to you dad, "I know from what you have told me how you endured great struggles and suffering in your life starting out as a small boy, but you never complained. As I grew up and seen you work at jobs you hated especially the third shifts you had to work longer in life for us. You went without sleep but never complained. When I stood there in the hospital room when you were diagnosed with lung cancer, I cried but you didn't. You hugged me and said that everything will be alright. I watched you endure the horrible chemotherapy treatments and needles week after week and suffer the horrible side effects that they had on your body. You never once complained nor were you afraid or let anyone really know how much you were suffering. You lived your life like a man and you went up to Heaven to be with mom. I truly believe that I am the man I am today because of you." Thank you for having me as your son. Love and respect Gregory Allen Kowalski. Visitation Friday, 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. Funeral Saturday, 9:30 a.m. from Modell Funeral Home, 12641 W. 143rd St., Homer Glen to St. Michael Church, Mass 10:30 a.m. Entombment Good Shepherd Cemetery.
