Charles Porter Obituary

Charles R. Porter, age 89, of Plainfield, passed away on Friday, May 10, 2013.

Born October 25, 1923 in Parke County, he was the son of Charles M. and Effie (Bain) Porter and was a graduate of Union Township High School in Bellmore, IN. He married Doris (Philabaum) Porter and she preceded him in death.

Charles had worked at Allison Transmission, Plant # 3 in Speedway and was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his son, Robert W. (Sandi) Porter of Coatesville, daughter, Deb Pryor of Owensboro, KY; three grandchildren, Tricia (Josh) Abdon, Tim (Judy) Porter, and Aaron Pryor; eight great grandchildren, Nick, Jayden, and Nolan Remsburg, Olivia, Jarred and Robert Porter, Sara Roberts, and Chase Abdon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; a granddaughter, Tamara Remsburg; a great grandson, Taylor Roberts; five brothers and a sister.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May15, 2013 at the Portland Mills Cemetery in Parke County with Pastor Perry Mager officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in in lieu of flowers to the Ronald McDonald House 435 Limestone Street Indianapolis, IN. 46202.
