Dear Janet,

Many years ago, Chuck had asked that I hurry to get to The Chicago Bar Association meetings so that he would not be the only one to order a beer! I am as flattered today as I was then when he said it with his usual great smile.

Every day we learn again why generations that preceded us frequently say...so long ago but seemingly just yesterday.

Chuck and you were more a part of our youth and laughter than any realized.

Sally and I are saddened that we have temporarily lost Chuck, but joyed at the part of life we shared with you both.

My wife Fran and I wish to offer condolences to John and Richard and their families at the death of Chuck, whom I remember well when he attended St. Cajetan's. He was always nice to younger folks like me when I was growing up in Blue Island.

I am saddened to learn of Chuck's death. A former partner, I worked with Chuck on numerous matters, and was one of the few who shared his joy of pounding away on a standard typewritter.

To Jan and Chuck Pigott's family: Chuck was our law partner at Banner & Witcoff for many years. We enjoyed and appreciated our association with Chuck. His care for his clients was at the peak of lawyers' sensibilities for clients. Chuck was also a higly capable lawyer, with an excellent skill of legal and factual analysis. His love for jazz was obvious, and fun for fellow enthusiasts to share. He rarely lacked for a big, infectious smile. The clack of his typewriter could always be heard, even behind his closed door, when he was hard at work. You surely miss him; we do too. Our wishes and prayers go out to you.

I'm a jazz musician, a saxophonist, and I met Chuck at Andy's Jazz Club several years ago. The last 3 years I've had steady gigs there on Wednesdays and/or Fridays. It would always bring a smile to see Chuck walk in the door. He was a true music lover, and we would spend most of the time between sets telling stories and sharing memories. He'd come in often with his lovely wife Janet, and sometimes by himself. I always tried to remember to play "Things Ain't What They Used To Be", the Duke Ellington tune he was so fond of. That title is particularly apt now that Chuck is gone. He'll be missed by me and the many musicians with whom he was a friend.
