Charles Marden Obituary

Waterbury
Charles Richard Marden – 59, formerly of Waterbury, passed away at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a sudden illness on Thursday, February 03, 2005. Born in Burlington on May 12, 1945, he was the son of the late Vincent P. and Annie M. (Perry) Marden. On December 25, 1974, he married the former Sally Gilman in Waterbury. Mrs. Marden passed away on June 24, 2003.

Charles attended schools in Waterbury and Enosburg and following his education, served with the US Air Force in Vietnam. Following his discharge from the service, Charles was employed by the state of Vermont, first at the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury as a psychiatric technician and later in road maintenance for the Vermont State Transportation Agency. He served several years as a deputy sheriff for Franklin County and worked as a dump truck operator in construction. Most recently he was employed as a woodworker for Green Mountain Wood Products.

His leisure time was spent enjoying fishing and hunting, but most of all; he loved the time he spent with his daughter and grandchildren.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Charlann Lacaillade and her husband, Sean of Barre; his grandchildren, Jaylann Hardaker, Alexander Hardaker, Benjamin Lacaillade and Oliver Lacaillade; a sister, Joan Kaigle of Williston; 4 brothers, Frank Marden and Vincent K. Marden, both of Las Vegas NV, Michael Marden of Vermont, and Matthew Marden of Florida; his close companion, Sue Remington of Plainfield; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Mark Marden.

A memorial service will be held from the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home in Waterbury on Tuesday at 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to the Plainfield Fast Squad, PO Box 57, Plainfield, VT 05667.
