Hester, Charles A. 80, WWII Veteran, after a battle with cancer, died October 28, 2003, born March 18, 1923 in Columbus, OH; a principal with the Chicago Public Schools for 15 years and an English teacher for 20 years; beloved husband of Ethel, father of Pamela and Renee (Milton), dear brother of Olivia Majette (New York) and fond uncle to Denise Majette (U.S. Rep. Dem-GA, 4th district), Michelle (Spence) and Valerie (Logue), proud grandfather of Amelia, Charles, Chris, Sydney, Ellis and Michael and great grandfather to Maceo Madison Jr. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. and Funeral services at 10:30 a.m. at Brookins Funeral Home, 9315 S. Ashland Ave., Friday, November 7, 2003.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Mr. Hester was a good man. He was my elementary school principal when I attended Oakenwald South Elementary School some 20 yrs ago. He was genuinely concerned about the children. He was a big influence on everyone. I then went on to further my education to become a teacher and now an administrator for the Chicago Public Schools.
