Charles Cummings Obituary
Portsmouth - Charles Clyde "Cherokee" "Chucky" Cummings, Jr., 41, passed away June 28, 2014. A native of Portsmouth, he attended Woodrow Wilson High School where he was a two time state champion football player. He also placed 5th in the state in wrestling. He worked doing hardwood floors for many years and loved to fish, play lottery, and spend time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Schander Cummings; 3 children, Kathryn Cummings, Charles "Bubba" Cummings III and Dylan Cummings; father, Charles Cummings, Sr. and wife Debbie; mother, Libby Gillikin and husband Mike; paternal grandmother, Ella Cummings; sister, Amy Cummings and husband Zach Scott; brother, Steven "Stump" Hales; three step-siblings; 11 aunts and uncles; 12 nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends. He loved everyone with all his heart.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 5, at 3 PM in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by Pastor John King. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-9 PM. www.SturtevantFuneralHome.com
