Earlier this summer I was driving down Kensington Ave. in La Grange and I wondered aloud as I passed Cathy's childhood home...Whatever happened to Cathy McAvinchey? I was shocked and saddened to hear about her death. Little did I know that she was living 4 blocks from my home in Oak Park. I went to school with Cathy. She was a gentle and kind soul.
My heart goes out to Cathy's family. This was a senseless tradegy that never should have happened.

To Catherine's family,
I will miss Catherine's peaceful presence in our building. You are all in my prayers and please know that my heart is with you. She was such a good person; a quiet soul.
I am sorry that I was not in town to attend the Mass but did offer my prayers for all of you the entire week. I wish you peace and comfort and the good memories that you all share.

Words cannot express my sadness and shock in learning of "Mac's" terrible tradgedy. We had a mutual friend in the shoe division at Spiegel, so Cathy lunched with us often. Always a delight, I'm sure there are many holes left by her absence.....

Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of Catherine. Having lived in the Courtyards a few years ago with many great memories of the people and building and joy we got out of making it "the penguin building" during the holdiays, it was with great sadness we heard of your loss.

I was saddened to read about the death of Cathy. We used to work together at Spiegel; I was one of her assistant buyers. I enjoyed her eccentric personality and cheerfulness. My condolences to her family.
